    Entire guilds had it.
Any random player that knew of the curse website had it.
If your dps sucked, everyone will know, which also bred competition, and drive to do more damage than your piers. A drive that's nearly non-existent partially because of the fear of being banned for violation of ToS

Yes, meters may be used as a tool to antagonize players, or create habits like tunnel visioning, and greed, but at least the fact that your damage compared to everyone else's is right there for all to see. You'd want to not suck at your class, or else you'd be the butt of jokes. But guess what? People were motivated to do better because of it!
No they weren't motivated to do better because of it. Infact they were often motivated to get tunnel vision on mechanics because they were so focused on numbers. That's my point. I never argued that Recount wasn't wide spread. My point was that Recount didn't do squat to make people play better and anyone who harped on about dps numbers either was treated as elitist or accused of being obsessed with their Epeen.

Recount as a tool was most useful for measuring personal rotation performance. It's actual use in measuring the quality of a player was very unreliable. Many players got great numbers on recount but couldn't do encounter mechanics to save their lives.

Your looking at WoW's LFG scene either with Rose tinted glasses or trying to give it a positive spin as a way to argue for a parser. Personally I don't have an objection to parsers but your argument using WoW as an example is just false. Parsers did nothing to improve the quality of dps and in many cases made them worse because dps got obsessed with getting high numbers at the cost of doing mechanics correctly.

I have said it before and Ill say it again. Nothing any player can do can force another player to meet a certain standard. It just doesn't happen. You have 3 choices. Only 3 and frankly you will only ever have 3. Vote Dismiss, leave or just accept it and finish the instance anyway. If you don't want to have to deal with poor players don't use random groups. Do your roulettes with your friends.

Well fist thing, LFG is crap content anyone can do. I'm talking about where the dps actually counts, raids. Second, as for the lack of parsers comment, there are some people who run parsers who can see youre only doing 500 dps in a raid and let me tell you, those doing 500dps seem to wave their epeens around the most about how epic they are.

I don't think it would matter who the news came from. If the first thing they respond with after someone is trying to give them advice is an insult, then it's quite obvious that they don't even want to try. Being new is one thing, but actively ignoring information that would help you? That's just rubbish.

I mean for god's sake, how hard is it to accept advice? Hang in there OP, it's going to be okay. Just breathe.

Well, OP assumed BLM was a bot. On top of that, the BLM probably felt like an attack was approaching, and responded with "shut up", which WAS wrong. OP then made it seem like it's, "I got that job at Level 60, now listen to me". Um, I have PLD to Lv60, but no one care because as far as they're concerned, it might be a FATE-leveled PLD lol...

Why does everyone who complains about bad people think that they get a "Pass" for being bad. Nobody likes a bad DPS, just as much as nobody likes a bad tank or healer it is however a reality that there are alot of people who play the game who aren't going to play at your standards.

Nobody is getting a "Pass" and it's not just DPS who are bad.

With how fast people can level now days thanks to how easy SE has made it to get to 60 it's really not that hard to understand how people can not be comfortable or all that knowledgeable about their classes end game skills when they first reach end game. Give them a few weeks to start learning and get comfortable with it. When I first hit 60 with my DRG I didn't even know the extra job quests for level 52-60 existed, and didn't find out about it for a couple weeks. Thankfully the person who told me was very nice about the whole thing and while keeping BoD up (which I'm told is like an easy version of Enochian *shudders*) isn't always fun or practical I do love seeing the extra dps I can put out with it now. With all the dodging mechanics in HW endgame I can see how some BLM would not even bother trying to use Enochian. But them who am I to speculate. >_< I'll have more to say when I get my BLM to 60.

Same thing with BRD's Wanderer's Minuet. I personally start with Straight Shot THEN pop on WM. I do this to get the Straight Shot applied quickly (too many times have I started Straight Shot with WM and the tank runs off with the mob, or the mob runs behind me). Someone in a dungeon telling me to stop rather than asking me why is grounds for ignoring. I don't play a dungeon the same way I play a Primal or Alexander, you know.

So when you finished your 50 DRG job quest, you didnt notice there was another one ? LOL

Your are just an example of what is happening, people just dont care to progress on their job and all that want is to skip everything and going as fast as possible to lvl 60.
