What? enrage timers have existed for pretty much most MMO bosses for the majority of MMOs... doesn't mean they had to buff tank damage.
I agree with OP - I miss the times where tanks were there to generate threat, mitigate damage and stop others from dying. Look at PLD in XI, or vanilla WoW warriors. That's what tanking should be.

There is a section dedicated for that called "Lore" tough.Back in my day, we played games for their story. I always come to these forums thinking, "Oh man! I can't wait to read about what people think of the characters and the plot!".....And then I find 300+ threads bitching about DPS. Almost enough to make me throw my computer out my window. Yes, I'm a filthy casual. I agree with you though.
Doing DPS as a healer or a tank is not in the job description. Their jobs are to heal and to tank.
Doing more than healing and tanking should be: "Wow you're super excellent! You went above and beyond, and the content (which did not require the assistance of your DPS) was made much easier by your contribution."
Rather than: "YOUR DPS SUCKS GIT GUD SCRUB DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO DO YOUR F***ING JOB? WHY DID YOU EVEN CHOOSE TO BE A HEALER IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DPS???"
Imagine mechanics that force healers to heal and tanks to tank.
Like this: During the DPS check a 5 sec doom that jumps from player to player when you esuna it, so you have to continuously esuna during the check while the other healer heals. Meanwhile, there's a tether that deals constant damage that the tanks have to pick up because they're the only ones who can survive it, thus the other healer's purpose. It's require a tank swap, tank stance, and CD's.
DPS checks should belong to the DPS. Forcing healers and tanks to deal damage to the point that people bitch about needing more DPS is the product of laziness on the developers' part. They aren't "pushing every job to perform at the maximum of it's potential," they're pushing every job to the maximum of it's DPS potential, and it's causing friction.

i think the DDs are just lazy or bad o.o/ it's not my job as a healer to play two different classes at the same time while the DDs take the backseat to their loot :X
Probably because SE is currently obsessed with dps checks.
I should point out, as a warrior in 2.0, I was out boxed by the pld/pld combo in bcob progression because the turn 1 hoodswipes were ridiculously overpowered for i70. Honestly, we had to grind out for 2weeks to score the af1 pants and pray the chest dropped so we could progress to turn 2. Savage came out two weeks ago. Once we gear up a bit, you won't see complainer threads pop like this till the next savage Alex comes along.
No thanks, I don't want to go back to the days of tickling normal quest mobs for an hour because I'm a tank and "tanks don't do damage".
I would also like to add that the DPS obsession has contributed to the community mindset of "Bring the Job, not the player" when comes to Statics determining which Jobs they should bring to Savage Alexander for putting out the maximum DPS numbers. So far, the best Savage raid composition is:
Tanks
* Warrior
* Dark knight
Healers
* White Mage
* Scholar
Damage Dealers
* Dragoon
* Ninja
* Black Mage/Summoner
* Bard/Machinist
Paladins, Monks, and especially Astrologians are now the three least sought after jobs in Alexander Gordias Savage. I got messages from PF Statics ranging from "Sorry, were not interested in bringing a PLD/MNK/AST into our static group." to "LOL! Go reroll!"
In many new startup Statics, nobody wants a Paladin because of they have the lowest DPS of the 3 tanks especially when they're using Shield Oath. Warriors have Maim to offset their 25% overall DPS loss plus they also have have Unchained. A good Warrior MT can quickly squeeze in 3 Fell Cleaves before going back into Defiance. Dark Knights are able the have Darkside up at the same time with Grit.
