I love the 24 man mode. I feel like I do so much more for my team when I'm in it compared to 72 man and you don't get 15 people chasing you down just to kill you... -.-Shoutout- I just did my first 24 man Sieze mode, it was awesome. Got my Slaughterhouse Three (500 kills) achievement that round. It should have been higher by now, except for the fact I went SCH a lot to ensure I'd get that ADS mount when we didn't have enough healing on teams otherwise. 500 more to Slaughterhouse Four where I actually get a title.
True, but on the other hand that can give you opportunities to duel players more than otherwise if you and they happen to be enroute to the same objective. Of course if it's you vs a DPS + Healer duo then that wouldn't be balanced as well so traveling solo still isn't the best approach.
I got to duel someone on that 24 person seize match last night even, I was the last member of our party traveling in a short line through a choke point and a NIN tried to gank me on my mount, while everybody in front of me kept going forward because they didn't see it. This would probably have been a free kill for him in pre-HW Frontlines, but I feel like we were more evenly matched than ever so before with all his instants vs. mine. I used my whole arsenal of relevant PVP and PVE skills, and had him dead before I even got to cast my deathflare on him and I had to sadly watch Dreadwyrm Trance expire with no one left around to kill. He had a good chunk off my HP bar too, and I think it's perfectly fair for me to have been able to counter him as I did. Just because a NIN has hide and lots of stuns and other instants to use against me doesn't mean that should be an instant win vs a caster.
Look at it this way, not only were you jumped, but you were also mounted and you won as a ranged dps with skills to spare. Now imagine if both of you had the support of a group, who would be faced with a greater amount of risks? Hell, flip the tables and you jumped him while he was mounted, do you think he could turn it around?True, but on the other hand that can give you opportunities to duel players more than otherwise if you and they happen to be enroute to the same objective. Either that is hands down the worst ninja on the face of the planet or summoner truly isn't as balanced as some people seem to let on, Though I'm inclined to believe both are the case.
Edit: Forgot quote.

Please nerf. Ridiculously OP. Walking deathmachine with a 60 sec certain kill LB.

No it shouldn't be an instant win, but he ganked you, you had a disadvantage you were heavy'd and fighting a melee in close range. He should have killed you. But not only did you walk away with health to spare you also had cooldowns/buffs to spare. If things were even his opening burst with you not being healed would have killed you, even as a tank I've seen that summoners are a bit OP'd but I mean. This isn't the first time summoner has needed to be nerfed.
Perhaps the reason they didn't is because I had the benefit of more experience and skill on my side... I don't know anything about the player but odds are they haven't completed over 600 matches as I have. If I wasn't an experienced player, he probably would have gotten the KO in first, but to say a Ninja should basically get an Instant Win button in a 1 v 1 against even a more experienced ranged player would make a Ninja just as OP in that regard as what some are saying Summoner is now. And it's still not easy against a melee player in close quarters as a Summoner, but I think I deserve a fair chance to defend myself from melee players who wait somewhere to grab me solo, and considering the battle's still in their favor with all the stuns they can do, only casters who are on top of their game have a chance to win that fight but without the tools in my kit to give me a fair chance, why even play. Most Summoners probably would have lost that 1v1 fight- and based on our level 50 skills I probably would have- but for an experienced player to be able to hold their own in a fight where the parameters aren't in their favor certainly doesn't mean their class is OP.No it shouldn't be an instant win, but he ganked you, you had a disadvantage you were heavy'd and fighting a melee in close range. Edit-What was this Ninja doing to support their team by hiding somewhere nowhere near any nodes, so they could try and kill one person in transit? Probably trying to work on their 1000 kills achievement at the expense of their team's viability in defending/capturing/taking nodes- real pro. I did them a favor by returning them to their home base.

Your skill should not be discredited but to say ranged dps deserve skills to take on melee dps outside of group battles makes little sense when you look at their intended roles. Ranged dps can deal their damage close to other allies who can make up for their weaknesses, melee dps can't. Therefore melee dps should be better at killing you the further away you are from your group and and you should be better at killing them the closer you are to your group. If you have the means to defend yourself inside and outside your group as a ranged dps, you're just a melee dps with no risk, so why would anyone play melee dps at that point unless they're a masochist?
At your question as to why you should even play without the tools to stand a fair chance against melee dps, you should play a caster if you wish to provide reliable dps from within the safety of your team.
The thing is, the game isn't designed around 1v1. It never was, not even in wolves den (which is a joke of its own). Getting jumped by a melee (espesically when you are a caster) in an isolated area, should by all means be a death sentence. But someone has mentioned this before, either the ninja was literally the worse player in history, summoner is more overpowered than people would like to think, or maybe it's both.
As a Machinist, my burst damage is pretty insane as well, but it's not to the same degree or reliability as that of a summoner's since it's on a longer effective cooldown, and we have a 50% damage penalty if we're not within sweetspot range. My defense isn't all that better than a melee's either, and my burst can be rendered just as ineffective as a summoner's through a quickly-timed purify.
