    STR and DET in isolation have an apparently linear (or at least really close) effect on autoattack and on weaponskill damage, therefore DPS = autoattacks + weaponskills is apparently linear by varying only STR or DET, therefore it is appropriate to test a measurably different STR or DET, then scale the weight linearly because considering it in isolation is exactly what we do with these weights. And if it is linear, then the difference doesn't even need to be positive! Just scale to the difference.

    Because crit:dps and SS:dps are derived (and in the latter case noticeably non-linear), making as a one point difference as possible is appropriate to see what one point is worth. Actually it would be better to compare dps(value+0.5) to dps(value-0.5) if we can't outright differentiate, but ehhhh effort.

    I'm not too worried about DET scaling for MNK here, just about how people will be itemizing for the next three months :P

    Guys, I have a question that I been asking myself for a few weeks and don't really know the answer. Maybe this is not the correct place to talk about this but I feel I can get a confident answer here.

    So, is there a way to know if a parse is unmerged or merged even if it's not showing the left window where the encounters are?

    No way to really tell from just the combat data window outside of a combat time being way off. You'd need the encounter window showing to really tell. This is one reason why people ask for videos since it's easy to fudge things with just screens of the combat data window which happen occasionally.

    This is kind of sad. The majority of the screenshots I saw from turns with a possibility of resetting the encounter didn't show the encounters window. I will start doing so to give more confidence to my own parses.

    See the 3 at thje top next to the zone name? that's total encounters. Really the only information you get, but ofc that doesnt make it merged.

    Yes, I got you there, that was something I didn't even notice before.

    Sooooooo just a little qiestion here... does anyone use PB normally outside of their opener? I'm not talking about losing your GL stacks and trying to get them back in a fight, but more like 3 minute mark of your rotation .I know the topic has been brought up before, but I feel it could use a little more light.

    Fairly minimal DPS gain. You also have to consider your buffs/debuffs when using it otherwise it's quite easy to let something drop by trying to squeeze out every bit of damage you can from PB. All in all most of us don't really feel it to be that worth it because if you do lose GL for any reason and you wasted your PB mid-fight outside of rebuilding you've hurt yourself even more. If the cooldown was shorter it would certainly warrant some additional thought, but being a 3 minute cooldown using it mid-fight is something that's going to be extremely situational. The only fight I ever considered it worth it was T4 pre-echo and before being really geared for it. This is all in context to raid bosses of course. There can be plenty of reason to use it outside of bosses in dungeons especially if you know you're going to be longer than 3 minute for the next boss.

    As others say before me, use for an AoE spam phase with all buffs (fists of fire, twin snakes, internal release, blood for blood, gl3, (try to have dots running)). Otherwise, the DPS gain is so small (CAN be decent if lucky with crits), that it's not worth it if GL is gonna fall off. It might be worth it when boss about to die though and you're gonna enrage. You have several options here: bootshine x5 if enemy is gonna die with all buffs up, bootshine x4 plus something to keep stacks if enemy won't die. These options are for when you do NOT have internal release up. All other buffs must be up for full effect though. Other options are, when internal release IS up, true strike x4 or x5 depending on whether you will need GL after the fact or not. Again, ALL buffs must be up otherwise not worth it. As long as one true strike crits, the damage is slightly more than all the bootshines. If you're really lucky and all 4 or 5 crit, congratulations you just had highest 10 second burst ever
