maybe you dont understand the complaint, the complaint is someone fighting their mob and the mob using an aoe, and the gatherer that has no hate/and may be invisible still gets hit by that aoe effect, and causing issues for said gatherer. unspoiled nodes will vanish if you are in the middle of gathering from it, if you used any buffs to get the items, you will loose the buffs and waste gp

though i wouldnt expect someone that didnt read all the information to understand this

and, onto the original converstaion, i do support they make a change, to this

If anything we need to bring back the sense of endangerment, back when DoL had throw stone mobs were keen on ripping you a new hole in your vest. I get that interrupts are annoying, but giving you immunity to all living hell and attacks that come from whatever foul creature in eorzea. Isn't that adding too much of a trollolol, I am immortal attitude? More than we already have now in 2.0? What if badass Odin showed up, he wouldn't be able to hit a gatherer that has stealth up?

Should some people fight nearby, shouldn't you then maybe evade that spot? It's a risk to gather in the world!

False, it would entirely remove a perception of danger.

If you don't like games that have some danger, maybe you should play another game?

Who really cares if they had immunity from Odin or whatever (only as long as Stealth or the gathering window was open or whatever, mind you)? It's not like DoLs are ever going to be useful in fighting anything anyway.

The problem is that AoEs and stuff hitting you rarely poses a real threat, even on a DoL. It's kinda like the heavy effect you get hit by when mounted. There is no "danger" aspect of it, it's merely an annoyance. The difference is that here, other players are the direct cause of that annoyance, and it can be weaponized and used as an intentional means to troll and grief others because of how easily it works.

Should some people fight nearby, shouldn't you then maybe evade that spot? It's a risk to gather in the world!
So what, I should just go home if that happens? Are you serious?

A lot of times there is only one specific spot to use that only appears once per RL hour (unspoileds). People can also show up after you've already clicked the node, at which point you're screwed because as soon as you close the window (or if the game closes the window for you if you're hit by something), kiss goodbye to your node.

The unspoiled/mooch systems are too unforgiving with how they work (as in, you must stay at this point and stay in gathering mode, or else you lose your node/mooch) for me to support the current system (as in, forced exit of gathering mode if you are ever struck by someone else's stray AoE).

False, it would entirely remove a perception of danger.

If you don't like games that have some danger, maybe you should play another game?
Again, what danger? The DoLs have an innate stealth ability. They're not *supposed* to be endangered by mobs unless you're in a place way above your level. You're looking at the wrong class if you're wanting to play a class with a danger element.

The only "danger" here usually is of having other random people/trolls dragging mobs on you to AoE you, intentionally or not, which is a "danger" that shouldn't exist anyway. It's less a danger and more just a stupid time waster that only serves to get players riled up at each other and more needless GM calls to be filed.

Because of the perception of danger in the game. You are given that ability to avoid being detected. Not to be immune to aoe attacks as you have found out, that would be too silly.

Yes I know how the nodes work and the timespan of them, I also know about how long it takes to gather from them. But as you are running to the node, are you not observant of the area around you? Perhaps somebody is fighting near it, tell him to politely move? If you are mindlessly running to the node and a fellow ends up near you, it's really tough luck.

Or he could be a baselard and do it for kicks, that sucks.

Or, y'know, they could do away with this silly "Oh, no! You've been attacked by something! Clearly there's no possible way you want to keep gathering!" thing they have going on and just let us decide what we want to do ourselves. . .

Now that's an actual idea and for gatherers only I wouldn't mind. Then you'd only lose the node if you idle around and loose all your hp.

However, would that be fair for those leves or fates where you need to pick up items from the ground?

Why not? You're still risking HP to get an item, and it's not like those fates are particularly dangerous unless you're somehow getting swarmed.

Exactly, the need to apply it to battles as well. So it's not on DoL that gets the feature.
