I personally think it is funny. Similar to turning a Morbol around during an S rank
It's only funny when you're the one without anything to lose from it.

And if it inflicts any direct damage (which most AoEs tend to do) your gathering process will be interrupted, unspoiled node lost, mooched fish disappeared.
Thanks and I'm sorry for the mistake. You have rules for that, it's gameplay disruption, a thing that you can report to a GM if it's done on purpose, which is hard to determine. Even though your suggestion is nice, I don't know if they are going to implement it. Good luck with that.

In terms of balance, if you as a DoL get immunity from AoE's I demand:

-Immunity from AoEs as DoW/DoM unless targeted to me. Hey, it's only fair and it brings balance.

So she is right - Working as intended, part of the dangers of deciding to chop trees or pick at rocks in an area with hostile monsters or monsters who may use an AREA OF EFFECT ABILITY. It doesn't need to change.

It's not usually an issue for me, but every time I go fishing at North Shards I end up having to /slap some people who don't pull the ogres away from the edge.

To be fair, if it's currently causing interruptions to gathering (as in, physically blocking people from crafting because they're taking damage), that's the only real part that needs to be fixed. Then it would be a matter of "how much damage am I willing to soak to get this item" instead of "well, damn, guess I don't get that unspoiled node."

That's the thing, it's easy for it to truly be accidental. But it's also easy for anyone to do it maliciously too. Which is why I feel like changes need to be made so that this can't happen at all.

They attempted to do this same sort of thing with regard to crafting in FFXI (in which having a beneficial effect cast upon you while crafting ruined your synth, and is another sort of thing that could easily happen accidentally or maliciously) by altering the system such that most beneficial effects casted upon you would simply just skip over you while crafting. From my understanding this is also why crafting was made allowable in the Mog House; it is one of the few areas in the game that is just for the individual player and no other players can enter (without permission), so it served as the safest potential place to craft.

Anyway, point is, they made something like that happen there, they could do it here. I doubt anything will happen right away, but the way I see it, the only suggestion that will definitely never be implemented is the one that's never suggested.

That's fine with me too if they actually want to do that (it's another sort of change to FFXI they eventually made after a while and it certainly didn't cause the end of the world to happen there), but you're just ignorant of how the game works if you think anyone else needs the change as badly as DoLs do.

DoLs must go to specific highlighted points to do their gathering and can't move mid-progress while gathering like DoWs/DoMs can with most of their actions, and even in the cases where it does interrupt/fail an action they can just try again after a second or two. DoHs can craft almost anywhere they want, including areas without any monsters. DoWs/DoMs almost always have freedom to move and don't experience automatic action cancellation upon being hit by any damaging AoE, nor would it force them to potentially have to wait another hour to do whatever it was they were doing even if it did work that way.

    Just a bit curious...

Where exactly are those areas that's really susceptible for getting interrupted by other player's attempts?
