Cash shop confirmed

What is this? I have played PLENTY of F2P games and the absolute worst those came with...is convenience(You can buy XP boost...so gamebreaking) so unless I'm somehow missing something gigantic, only a few minions and a mount is behind a paywall...and you guys can't just ignore and must unsub because of that? That's honestly pretty ridiculous.

How about this? Wait till the Cash Shop comes out, if there's nothing in there that is gamebreaking, don't quit but keep a close eye on Squenix from then on. If they go too far and start making it in a way that it becomes an 'I Win' button, THEN you can run off and I can absolutely agree with that.

TL;DR I'm not saying you guys shouldn't be angry, but unless the Cash Shop is actually aiming to be Pay to Win, there is absolutely no reason for this type of outrage as it's coming off more elitist and fearmongering than actually thinking with your heads.

It doesn't sound like your being aggressive but also doesn't seem like you read much of the recent pages. It an issue with paying for the game and still not being able to get everything. That's not an elitist attitude in the slightest. We pay every month yet we still have to pay more to get some things, nothing is fair about that

Has their been any responses from the development team? I'm really concerned for the future of this game after the announcement of these additional cash shop "features." It should just be additional fantasias, and server transfers only. The fact that they charge a premium for an additional retainer still upsets me, but adding this as well is really upsetting to me. Seeing how this pans out in the next few months, who knows it I'll continue to play in 6 months. (Yes, I will unsub because this shows how greedy Square is.)

I'd just like to say that it's really depressing to see some of the people here so happy to be ripped off.

I would think it should be enough for a sheep to be sheared once a month, without asking to be cut open and bled dry on top.

Just my two cents here, but all of you people complaining avbout the cash shop probably also complained about not getting space for personal housing. if a cash shop pays for upgraded servers to get more housing plots, then its money well spent.

Other MMOs give houses to every player. FFXIV can barely managed a small handful. It's pathetic, maybe they're using a toaster for servers :\. They get enough money to improve the servers to stop these issues, every other time people complain about something they say "server limitations". It's gotten to the point where it's just an excuse to me and holds no real value.

Go look up WoW, one of the largest mmo's to date.

Did the game launch with a cash shop? no. Did they add max level characters and xp potions when they added the cash shop? no. The same thing that happened to wow is starting to happen now to FF.

I dunno where your seeing xp potions or valor point potions on the list of things on the cash shop. The level 90 boost is shown under character services and is an entirely different category then the vanity stuff which makes up 90% of the list of things for sale and no way effects the game what-so-ever.

Also Warcraft is an older game and does have to take steps to maintain its player base. the same might happen to XIV when it reaches Warcrafts age, but for now I wouldn't worry.

Been thinking some more about this and I still feel really uneasy about it. I've not once thought about unsubbing to this game even through the Atma / Housing fiasco's and such. I guess i'll just see how things go in the next couple of months, but if it goes in the direction i'm thinking then I just won't be able to enjoy the game anymore.

With regards to the Odin mount, look at it this way:
At some point during the development process of either the mount or the trial the question must have been raised - Do we make this a drop, similar to the Extreme Primal mounts? Or do we put it into a cash shop?
This question WILL have come up during the development process. They have clearly chosen the route that will yield them money as opposed to the more fairer for all option.

There is no fairness involved. The entitlement of these threads is staggering. Its.... a.... business. Its not a not-for-profit whatever that is the becon of fairness to the world.... its a videogame designed to make the publisher of said game $$$MONEY$$$. They aren't here to be fair, its to make money. Stop all this whining and either play the game or don't. Its like those damn "Welp... I'm leaving" threads.... no one cares.

Monthly subscriptions also pay for that. No need to take more from us. But your still missing the point of what the issues are. It's easy to assume the extra money will go towards making the game even better but there is no proof that that will ever happen. what we do know though, is that we are blocked from some things now unless we pay more money, and that's just more money taken from us that could have just been included in the game
