What is this? I have played PLENTY of F2P games and the absolute worst those came with...is convenience(You can buy XP boost...so gamebreaking) so unless I'm somehow missing something gigantic, only a few minions and a mount is behind a paywall...and you guys can't just ignore and must unsub because of that? That's honestly pretty ridiculous.

How about this? Wait till the Cash Shop comes out, if there's nothing in there that is gamebreaking, don't quit but keep a close eye on Squenix from then on. If they go too far and start making it in a way that it becomes an 'I Win' button, THEN you can run off and I can absolutely agree with that.

TL;DR I'm not saying you guys shouldn't be angry, but unless the Cash Shop is actually aiming to be Pay to Win, there is absolutely no reason for this type of outrage as it's coming off more elitist and fearmongering than actually thinking with your heads.

Go look up WoW, one of the largest mmo's to date.

The game has a $15 a month sub, and you can buy a MAX level character that comes with max level professions in the cash shop. They also have the ability to release xp potions and valor point potions, in fact they are already available in the Chinese version and as soon as they can get away with it they will release them in the NA/EU version.

Did the game launch with a cash shop? no. Did they add max level characters and xp potions when they added the cash shop? no. The same thing that happened to wow is starting to happen now to FF.

I dunno where your seeing xp potions or valor point potions on the list of things on the cash shop. The level 90 boost is shown under character services and is an entirely different category then the vanity stuff which makes up 90% of the list of things for sale and no way effects the game what-so-ever.

Also Warcraft is an older game and does have to take steps to maintain its player base. the same might happen to XIV when it reaches Warcrafts age, but for now I wouldn't worry.

    Quote from blizzard blue poster

"First, we’ll be testing the in-game store with some new kinds of items we’re looking into introducing (in Asian regions, at the outset) based on player feedback: specifically, an experience buff to assist with the leveling process, as well as an alternate way to acquire Lesser Charms of Good Fortune. We’ve had a lot of requests from players in different regions for convenience-oriented items such as these, and as with other new ideas we’ve introduced as WoW has evolved—including Pet Store pets, mounts, and more—your feedback plays a hugely important part in determining what we add to the game."

The xp potion is available (iirc) in the Asian reigns. And i have no doubt that when WoD is in the middle of its life span and everyone is waiting for the XP nerf that blizzard has done every expansion they will be buyable in the NA/EU reign.

The level 90 boosts are sold in the same shop as the vanity items, the fact that they are under a different category doesn't mean it is not a cash shop item. If they added BiS raid gear to the cash shop but put in under character service would you not agree?

My original post still holds, being in testing does not equate to being in game, I'm sorry.

My original post also stands in regards to Warcraft being an older game and needing to take steps to maintain its player base. EverQuest 1 which was very very notorious for selling power such as xp potions on it market place is no different. Both being very old games. As I said before maybe this will happen in XIV's distant future but for now I wouldn't worry.

And if you would read the whole post you would know that xp potions are sold to the Asian market. And that they are looking at the posibility of adding them to the NA/EU market. *hint* *hint* the patch that lowers the amount of xp needed to get max level *hint* *hint*

WoW being an older game has nothing to do with it, they are still the largest mmo on the market.

Hell if you took WoW's subscribers currentaly and ignored where they were in the past they probably still have the largest subscriber base out of any mmo ever.

Oh I did read the post, but I also know the Asian market according to Blizzards numbers show a minority in sales, AKA a very niche market when it comes to Warcraft. I can't fault Blizzard at all for wanting to capitalize at all on that especially if people are willing to pay to catch up to their friends faster. If they want to add the same to the NA/EU market then fine because its back to *hint* *hint* older game, trying to bring in new subs, people want to play with their friends. XIV, newer game, not much content separating newer and older players, easier to catch up, no real need for xp potion sales yet,

Oh my. It is really in a different category. You even have to scroll down twice. This changes everything.

Yep ^o^ you had to scroll past all the vanity fluff stuff to get to the "optional services" area. Ya know the name change fantasia stuff department?

It doesn't sound like your being aggressive but also doesn't seem like you read much of the recent pages. It an issue with paying for the game and still not being able to get everything. That's not an elitist attitude in the slightest. We pay every month yet we still have to pay more to get some things, nothing is fair about that
