This. The correct way to demonstrate against the cash shop is to stay subscribed but never purchase from the cash shop. This way they will know that people still like the game but not the cash shop. If people unsubscribe then it's conflated with many other possible reasons.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of faith in people to exhibit self control and organization, but a boycott of the cash shop specifically is what we should do if we want it gone.

again with that, its not about not buying the optional items, its about the disrespect to you playerbase, YOU ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR A SUB, anything more is out of the question, and thats a fact.

They had some prices up there, not for the mount though. Minions and old Halloween gear seemed to be around £2-3.

You are completely missing the point. The issue isn't that it's simple to "just not buy it", but the fact that from now on, potential content will be lost to the cash shop just so SE can make an extra few dollars off of you every pay day.

Unfortunately from my personal observations of mmorpg forums, no amount of whining/complaining will deter a company once they've made decisions of this nature, i.e adding a cash to their mmorpg.

I'm not sure if we can discuss other games here but anyway, that game cash items at least were tradeable and always supplied. Not that I agree with it tho, just saying.
Also I doubt FFXIV would go F2P seeing how FFXI didn't after so many years. F2P is a desperate move to attract more players while earning more money with cash shop, it's a sign of a dying game craving for population. FFXIV is nowhere near that, it's pretty much alive.

It's not going to work because it is a win/win situation. 1.) Subscribers are going to stay subscribed. They lose no money. 2.) There will always be someone who will buy from the cash shop. Still SE not losing any money.

Once a cash shop is announced in an mmo, it says forever. Never have I seen an MMO take a cash shop off its service after implementation. If there is such a game, I'd love to know.

correct. I already done with this game. as soon as my time is done. i will not worry about ffxiv anymore. I got other games i can play. I might return on Heavensward for the content but thats it. i Play games for their content/Storylines. and since they release around 10 missions or so per patch i can finish 2.4 in one week so not worried. if i dont oh well. got more content to look forward in Spring next year or might as well just stay unsubscribed and see how the game fares from this point forward.

Pretty much, cash shops are either set up on a game that launches as F2P, a game that is more sooner than later going F2P, a couple of Buy to Play games, or in WoW's case a cash shop that starts as cosmetic only but eventually adds P2W features like level boosts. Seeing how ARR is a straight up copy of a lot of MMOs, I don't see why any of these things won't eventually happen.

Correct? Maybe... but will it do any good? The whales will more than make up for people who do not purchase from the cash shop. Once the cash shop is implemented, I doubt it will ever be removed.
