It just feels bad when you're paying a monthly subscription to have the exact chance to get in game items as everyone else, then only shop exclusive items so whoever pays more has more access to game items, that's so F2P move. I always loved P2P games because everyone has the same posibilities in obtaining the items, now we don't. Even if they're just vanity, some people wanna obtain everything available, that's what game content is for.

The issue I'm having is that now everything not "progression" is on the table for cash shop.

New dye colors? New cute minions? New cool mounts? More vanity gear (ie lighting, dragon quest, etc)? Are they all on the table for cash shop now and we're ok with it? So if 1 out of the next 20 mounts is cash shop is that ok? 1 out of the next 10? Next 5? Next 2? You want a metallic copper dye? Well that'll be $2? I guess furniture items are not progression either right? $5 for the moogle desk is fine?

Have you seen how we always get two versions of primal furniture? Starting with the expansion, with the new primals, I can see the "shiny" ones becoming cash-only.

Kinda wondering too about the 'side stuff' coming up soon, the card game and choco racing. No doubt there will be stats and mechanics in those, and since its not main progression, extras would easily be swayed into those.

Let me point something out:
SE has not commented on a service to change character names in over a year. That being said, myself and im sure many others, have made new characters with our desired names to play FFXIV. Because we made new characters, and event items are not tradeable or there is no sort of account warehouse, we lose the hard earned event items we have gotten in the past. I personally banked on the fact that this game gave players the ability to obtain event rewards through the relaunch of events (such as the lightning returns event that ran at least 2x this year).
This being said, with a Cash Shop, previous event items are restricted - meaning if you miss it, boo hoo for you.

Now, I wouldn't be pissed off if SE would have just addressed their status on character name changes. They give you a potion to change your character's gender ffs but well over a year and we dont even have an update on character name changes?

I know name changes have nothing to do with this topic, but it is due to the lack thereof, that I made a new character to play through the game, but doing so I had to give up my event items... and now that I have to BUY said items with money instead of patiently waiting for a possible relaunch of the event?

This DOES affect me. Even if I don't want to spend money in the cash shop, it affects me due to my situation above. It's not just about who is willing to pay or not pay for the cash shop.

But, Since it has been announced, there's nothing we can do to avoid it. We can complain as much as we want.... but this is how SE wants to do business.

I truly laugh at the people that are blinded and refuse to see the truth, when a game opens a cash shop something is seriously wrong. I would like to know the official amount of active online subscriptions. people already leave the game cause of lack of content and now they open a cash shop? LOL... WoW did that and lost half their subscribers, from a 10 million or so subscription they went down to like 5 million or so. good job yoshi-p! why not make it B2P or F2P if you are so found of cash shops...

if they opened a cash shop is cause they have lost a lot of subscribers so they need to get the lost revenue from somewhere, but i still see ffxiv turn into a F2P or B2P pretty soon.
