I really don't understand, it's simple to just not buy the optional items. When they see that isn't working for them they will cut off the cash shop idea entirely.I truly laugh at the people that are blinded and refuse to see the truth, when a game opens a cash shop something is seriously wrong. I would like to know the official amount of active online subscriptions. people already leave the game cause of lack of content and now they open a cash shop? LOL... WoW did that and lost half their subscribers, from a 10 million or so subscription they went down to like 5 million or so. good job yoshi-p! why not make it B2P or F2P if you are so found of cash shops...
if they opened a cash shop is cause they have lost a lot of subscribers so they need to get the lost revenue from somewhere, but i still see ffxiv turn into a F2P or B2P pretty soon.
Dropping your sub does not resolve this particular situation, Not buying the optional stuff does.
This. The correct way to demonstrate against the cash shop is to stay subscribed but never purchase from the cash shop. This way they will know that people still like the game but not the cash shop. If people unsubscribe then it's conflated with many other possible reasons.
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of faith in people to exhibit self control and organization, but a boycott of the cash shop specifically is what we should do if we want it gone.
It's not going to work because it is a win/win situation. 1.) Subscribers are going to stay subscribed. They lose no money. 2.) There will always be someone who will buy from the cash shop. Still SE not losing any money.This. The correct way to demonstrate against the cash shop is to stay subscribed but never purchase from the cash shop. Once a cash shop is announced in an mmo, it says forever. Never have I seen an MMO take a cash shop off its service after implementation. If there is such a game, I'd love to know.
We can complain. We can whine. We cannot stop this from happening.
Just Do It.
Correct? Maybe... but will it do any good? The whales will more than make up for people who do not purchase from the cash shop. PS3 limitations
again with that, its not about not buying the optional items, its about the disrespect to you playerbase, YOU ARE ALREADY PAYING FOR A SUB, anything more is out of the question, and thats a fact.
if you dont hava a problem with that, keep playing i dont care, but im not giving my money to square anymore.
You are completely missing the point. The issue isn't that it's simple to "just not buy it", but the fact that from now on, potential content will be lost to the cash shop just so SE can make an extra few dollars off of you every pay day.

correct. I already done with this game. as soon as my time is done. i will not worry about ffxiv anymore. I got other games i can play. I might return on Heavensward for the content but thats it. i Play games for their content/Storylines. and since they release around 10 missions or so per patch i can finish 2.4 in one week so not worried. if i dont oh well. got more content to look forward in Spring next year or might as well just stay unsubscribed and see how the game fares from this point forward.
This is where voicing your opinion comes in. The angry mob is the loudest, everyone that feels this way should speak up in fact in encourage it. When they hear everyones complaints they will most likely get rid of it.
Again, stopping your sub does not resolve the situation. However, you are still entitled to drop it if you see fit. Yoshi-P won't know why you did, but you can still do just that. ( Voicing your concerns and not suckering into buy those vanity items will remedy the situation.)
Edit: PS: As long as these items are obtainable in game in some way or fashion, then I don't care if they have a cash shop. If they are not, and you can only get them through paying real money for it, then I don't like that either.

I have every bit of confidence in Yoshi P's reasoning ability to figure out why people unsubbed the day a cash shop was announced.

That is the people decision to make if they feel just like you. However, unsubbing will only hurt the game and it will eventually start delaying patches/expansions and what not. Yes your right to say that is Yoshi-P's fault, but if people don't want to see FFXIV make progress of content or even the game in general, then I question if they ever really like the game to begin with. Just simply stop subbing over a cash shop that is not pay 2 win, won't help the game any.
Again, that is everyones decision to make, I am just giving my opinion here, nothing more.
