Grinding is an essential mechanic of MMORPG's

Grinding mobs in one spot isn't essential, there's a number of MMOs on the market that already don't have you do this. Quest grinding is far more enjoyable even though it is still grinding. Any WoW clone can show you that much.
Am I saying this is necessarily what should be done? No. I'm just saying that there's other ways to do things. I only hope that Yoshi-P and this crew are inventive enough to find one rather than having us slay 10000 of one or two enemy types all the way up FFXI style.
