2 Valfruit (new feathers msg). Result: Rose Pink
6 Apples (+2 (new feathers) +4 more, new feathers msg on each addition, for 5 New Feather msgs total) Result: Coral Pink
12 Berries (new feathers msg) Result: waiting

For the pinks, can you please tell me exactly how many "feathers" messages you got that resulted in each color? Did you start from Desert Yellow, go to Salmon Pink, then go from Salmon Pink to Rose Pink, and finally Rose Pink to Coral Pink? This will be a big help. Thank you!

So, are you saying you got 1 new feathers message for the set of 5 valfruits or that you got a new feathers message for each individual valfruit within the set of 5?

Desert Yellow =>Salmon Pink: Fed until the 1st "New Feathers" message, which took 5 valfruit.
Salmon Pink => Rose Pink: Fed until the 1st "New Feathers" message, which took 2 valfruit.
Rose Pink => Coral Pink: Fed 2 Apples, recieved first "new feathers" message, Fed 1 Apple, 2nd New Feathers msg, Fed 1 Apple, 3rd New Feathers msg, Fed 1 Apple, 4th New Feathers msg, Fed 1 Apple, 5th New Feathers msg. Stopped feeding.

Yes, starting with Desert Yellow. Only snack has been the O'ghomoro Berries. We were aware of the "new feathers" message when he began his coloring, so we were sure to keep track of it.

Sylh green from feeding it 1 onack ot start the plumage change and 3 new feathers will grow messages - origin point desert yellow.

Going through this thread now to find posts listing the number of feather procs, I've gone through most of the other thread and only found a handful.

Hopefully this helps someone test if matching the same number of procs is the important thing. I'll get to adding images of the chocobos later today or tomorrow as I don't think that's the most important thing atm.

Unfortunately everyone is going nuts on feeding it multiple things without recording proper data, so it's gonna be hard to get a 1:1 feeding basis.

Daily limits are dumb. Thanks for posting that, ServerCollaps. I saw it on Cranky's document but was hoping someone else could confirm. This might mean that all color changes have a possible "secondary" color as well. I recorded two other instances.

This is the process I used to achieve Snow White:

Feed #1 (6hr cycle) - Honey Yellow

• Cieldalaes Pineapple x3

Result = Honey Yellow

* It took 3 Pineapples before the "Feathers" message appeared.

Feed #2 (6hr cycle) - Cream Yellow

• Doman Plum x4

Result = Cream Yellow

* The "Feathers" message triggered at 3 or 4 Plums. I didn't write this "Feather" trigger down so unfortunately I don't know exactly which but I'm 98.5% sure it was at 4.

Feed # 3 (6hr cycle) - Snow White

• Doman Plum x7
• Valfruit x10

Result = Snow White

* Fed 1 Doman Plum and got no "Feathers" message. Switched to feeding 10 Valfruit (each had the "Feathers" message) and then the remaining 6 Doman Plums (each plum triggered the "Feathers" message).

Total Fruits Used:

3 Cieldalaes Pineapple, 11 Doman Plum, 10 Valfruit

*Note: Stable quality was "Poor" for all feedings.

1 for Pineapples, 1 for Plums, 10 for Valfruit and 6 for Plums


Reviewing the Google Doc the results I posted above could work for Honey Yellow and Cream Yellow as well.

Honey Yellow = 1 Pineapple "Feather" message
Cream Yellow = 1 Pineapple "Feather" message, 1 Plum "Feather" message. 2 messages total over 2 Feed Cycles.

* Additionally I just saw someone post in the "Chocobo Dyeing" thread that they got Cream Yellow after using 7 Pears but triggering only 2 "Feathers" messages.

Thanks, and yeah. The first few pictures of the chocobos were so slight, everyone just started throwing as much as they could to get bigger variations. I have a feeling it'll take a while to get the lowest common denominator for each color.

For some reason, after feeding my chocobo 28 Doman plums yesterday in hopes of getting Celeste Green (I got Sky Blue instead), no amount of O'ghomoro berries or Mamook pears will give me the 'Beginning to grow new feathers' message.
I fed about 20 O'ghomoro berries and 20 Mamook pears, and nothing happened. I guess I'll just try to start over from Desert Yellow once we have more information about how this works.

Edit: I fed my chocobo one Xelphatol apple and got the '...grow new feathers!' message. I guess blue and green values were just completely maxed out.

Feeding my chocobo one Xelpathol apple took the colour from Sky Blue to Raptor Blue.
