FFXI got a lot of shiet for being "hardcore" and "unfriendly", but since it's fight didn't rely on one hit=KO mechanics, they were much more friendly to new players and groups. The only fight I can think people can learn together is Mog Exe.
Yup. Player skill in this game just means knowing the rotation so it's either you can do it or you can't. There's really no adapting and still being able to pull off a fight like most other mmos. The dps checks make it impossible to have a dd down for long, tank dead means wipe, etc. Skilled players don't have much of an effect besides executing their rotation perfectly and still watching others fail over and over. I think that's what I hate most about end game, it's too rigid.
