many bad decisions this patch. and the grace period as well as goodwill are all but almost gone imho.
    as to the atma.
ive already did the grind and yeah they need to adjust this quest for sure. the rng is terible there is no fairness to it at all.
but what i find most disgusting is that we have more than 100 pages worth of discussion on this topic and the devs are yet to weigh in and respond one way or another on this issue. at one recent conference yoshida put up a spreadsheet of how they rebuilt ff14 and one of the major points was "listening to the fans".
you dont listen. you dont even respond on major issues that are ripping this community apart. shamefull

I honestly can't comprehend how anyone approves of the current state of the atma quest.

Pretty much what I'm getting is you (people defending the atma grind) like it the way it is because it extends the content patch by giving some people horrible luck and therefore ridiculous time consuming grinds. You don't want to log in on a Tuesday night with nothing to do, so you like the atma quest...

Fine, but can that Tuesday night fate grind that you relish be for some vanity items like a new mount or something that is not required to continue playing in future patches?

I feel sorry for people with multiple jobs they need to do this on.

For the rolling, Central Shroud, three atma of the Maidens in two hours (I was PTing with my bf for them), his did take 3 1/2 hours to get one though.

    RNG works both ways.

Atma farming is an absolute doddle compared to doing the original relic quest in version one.

Let's equate farming atmas with doing hamlet defence. Now hamlet defence itself wasn't that difficult and you only needed three drops from it. The rng on those drops made fates look like an absolute atma fountain though. To try to increase your crop rate you could turn in provisions to the hamlet during the 50 hour preparation phase. Only the top provisioner on each server got the worthwhile drop rate buff. That's ONE per server.
Even to have a chance at being top provisioner would take a huge amount of time gathering. I would typically spend 12 hours a day for three or four days gathering provisions and still need donations of provisions from linkshell members to even have a chance of topping that chart. It took so many full stacks of stuff that you physically couldn't even carry them using your entire inventory. Just like an ebay auction the amount for top provisioner would stay quite low, and then everyone would turn in as much as they could right at the end. Tens of millions of gil worth of provisions (per player) dumped onto the npc in the last few minutes, and if you weren't top you'd pretty much wasted your time. All this for one of the three beastmen seals you needed for just stage one of the relic quest.
Stage two was a doddle, you just traded 25k gc seals for a book. We didn't have fates dropping seals then though. You usually did company leves dropping 100 or so each.
Next you needed beastmen currency which you could farm or buy on the market wards for upwards of 5 mill.
Now we're on to the fun part. Remember the double melded weapon you need for the relic quest in ARR? Well in 1.0 that weapon was tough to make, really tough. The mats cost several hundred thousand. And then another couple of hundred thousand to several hundred thousand for the materia. Oh and the materia meld could fail. Usually did fail actually. Repeatedly. And back then you didn't just lose the materia, you lost everything.
Next you had to spiritbond your half made relic and finally move on to the primals.

All this for your normal relic, so please stop complaining about a little rng in the upgrade quest.

What was done in version one has no bearing on what is done in this version. It was a different game, as were the likes of UO, EQ, DAoC etc.etc. It failed BIG TIME, and hence we now have this version, which they obviously want to succeed. So stop carping about something that doesn't exist and when it did, they couldn't even make money out of it.

Atmas are broken and need a pseudorandom system. It'll almost certainly be nerfed by the time the next relic tier is out, just like the last relic tier (effectively) was. In the meantime, get good and get your Leviathan/High Allagan poke-sticks. If you can't at least muster that, then frankly, you have no need and no business carrying around bleeding edge endgame gear.

Let's not forget you can choose to not do it. However, people want the "best" stuff in game and they secretly want it handed on a silver platter.

    3 options we got:

    1. Farm Coil (need to save soldiery and clear difficult stuff. Needs a static/FC <--- is an MMO skill too since you need to form a group/function in a group)
    2. Farm Levi (here is your RNG again since you need the mirror too)
    3. Atma => Animus (no skill, just time consuming for those thousands of people who complained they don't have much time to wait for groups and whatnot)

Instead of making more greater, more challeging and more vivid way of working your way towards the zodiak weapon, they have decided to make it a FATE farm.
The trials on it's own are more then enough of a grind in my opinion.

As said for the coil, it has come to a point that I clear it just for the challenge and if I get gear from it then it's nice if not then it's okay too.
I will just farm it when it ends up in the duty finder in 6 months time.
It's just a shame that it has come this way of thinking.

You are the person who called them idiots not me, so don't point fingers for name calling.

That being said I have seen many people both on these forums and in game who were quick to show off their Atma's and Animus weapons.
