The problem isn't so much how long the gear stays good, but the long term effect of constantly bumping gear scores up at a set point in level. If they are proceeding down this direction it's pretty clear Yoshida and his team aren't paying attention to what has happened in World of Warcraft after all the years they had been bumping gear score. Now they are forced to normalize the gear across multiple expansions and mess with damage numbers. Not only that, but they are doomed to render prior content obsolete with this kind of system and any kind of achievement people may have had along with it.
If this was the first time we were seeing this, I wouldn't be so hard on SE, but we've seen this happen now multiple times and it always turns into a mess.
So work towards 6-9 and show off with that gear while all the scrubs work on 1-5?

Heh before release it was mentioned clearly that as new content comes in, old content will be more accessable. Now we are getting coils 6-9 and twintania still needs to be beaten in order to access it. Many people who never done coils can now access 1-5. This is win win for me in 2 ways. I can play with my hardcore group tackling the new challanges that 6-9 will provide us. I also can not only gear up other jobs but be able to play with my more casual friends who would love to give coils a try, without forsaking my core group or end up locked out because i decided to help.
This is not bad its win win for all players. The hardcore will always down the new challanges first and gear up first while the causals keep playing the game of catch up , but be able to do more content they couldnt do before. coils 1-5 will be obsolete for those who have geared up already. why keep it in the shadows?
Don't worry, Turn 6-9 will fulfill all of your weekly gear lockout needs and the rest of us might actually be able to gear our other jobs!Anyone else think they shagged the players and guilds that spent 1-2 months working towards getting turn 1-5 down and then they removed lockouts to give the casual players a chance to farm stuff on a plate while those who worked hard on t5 only given the chance to do 1 week on t5 for loot.
Good job saying F***U to the fcs and guilds that worked it. No point in having guilds in this game anymore its all duty finder
Also, if you think most casuals are going to be "farming T1-5 up on a plate" post 2.2 you're giving the playerbase far too much credit.
