You're good at the game? You're an elitist.
You're using a parser to better yourself? Elitist.
    You're making suggestions on how someone can improve themselves? E l i t i s t.

You wipe a farm party constantly but you're having fun playing your way. Nah you're fine dude.

HyoMin summed it up perfectly. A lot of people complain when you try to help them because they think you're being rude or trying to control them or some crap. It just gets tiring after a while, and it's fairly disheartening when it doesn't feel like anything you say will make a difference.

Plenty of us do try to give advice, like others have already expressed. It gets annoying when people either can't be bothered to listen or get offended. Even just the other week, I had to tell a tank to use cooldowns in Rabanastre no less than five times? Did she? Yes. She used them all at once and cried how they weren't available. She even used Hallowed Ground as the off tank. When I lost patience and asked yet again for CDs, she flat out said "NO!" And got huffy after I asked the tanks in the other alliances to Provoke from her. What happened? She fought them for aggro by staying in Shield, ate a tank buster with no CDs and died. We wound up having to kick her from how much of an nuisance it became to babysit healing her.

And all this drama became from both myself and my co-healer asking politely for her to do her job.

Gee, I wonder what thread inspired this gem? One can only wonder. I also find it hilariously ironic that you are advocating towards "creating a better player base" and being helpful towards others given how you were kicked out of your servers novice network for your "oh so helpful" guidance to your servers community as a mentor. Absolutely hysterical zexy, you are a piece of work.

Okay, this is a two-parter. In spite of what I did say earlier, Zexy, about me not letting my opinion of your other threads bleed into other threads you make, you yourself have built a reputation of passing on false or incorrect information. You can't call the kettle black if you yourself have engaged in the bad information sharing, and then resorting to insults and doubling down on that bad info when called out on it. A few weeks doesn't change your rep and quite a few of us do remember that you refused the very advice we've given you in the past.

    On the other hand...

Yes, what you just posted is something that mentors do need to be advocating. While I wouldn't go so far as to say people complaining and venting on the forums is wrong, I do agree that people need to at least give advice once during a run if it's needed. A good portion of us who have given advice have had insults thrown back at us, so it's disheartening to keep sharing advice for folks who just call us elitists just for asking them to play the game competently. I'll try to share advice til I hit my breaking point per run. I haven't quit a duty yet, I just adjust in the event of bad players. But players who don't want to listen or take advice, yes, I will judge them because they're obviously not doing something right if I am judging them. For example, if we wipe three times to the second boss of Baelsar's Wall, and I'm either an AST or RDM, and I keep telling you that I cannot keep up everybody's heals if you keep moving during the Motion Sensor (if I even tell you not to do a thing when you have the three red dots surrounding you) and you fail that each and every time, I do not want to continue the run with you. I won't kick you unless someone else initiates it, but I don't have time to deal with players who keep causing a wipe because they won't listen.

    That's just one example.

Learning is part of the process. Practice makes better, practice makes improvement. I taught that to the kids at the Scholasticate in Ishgard before they went on their holiday.

I don't think I can read another of these threads but my thoughts are esentially...

*I perform my role/all relavent mechanics, we still wipe*

Either I give advice to the underperforming/seemingly confused party members and get called an elitist because I don't pay their sub/am not their mom/etc. OR I don't give advice and get called an elitist because I am expecting them to have some knowledge of the content they've chosen to run.

I guess I'm an elitist since literally anything I do or don't do means I am an elitist. /shrug

I have a 60 machinist and was going to level it from 60 to 70 but every link shell and shout earned me to advice. No one seems to have a proper rotation for a 60 machinist. I was told to press buttons till I get to 70 where all the advice on the class is. Google search came up with only 70's rotation so I still don't know.

It isn't as if you need some incredibly opyimized opener to compete in O4S on your 60 role though. With ability reduction to limit button bloat many classes just don't have a comprehensive rotation at 60 now. You will likely have to look at your abilities and piece together what you think is optimal.

If I had MCH leveled I'd be more than happy to help but sadly mine is still sitting at 30.
