So many things I want to say, but not everyone is going to listen or understand.
Rivenroad - My husband had to make charts for me to get through this fight. It took over 25 tries, with a solid, static group before I beat this instance. Weeks, it took us weeks to get the win. Do you know what I didn't feel at the end? I didn't feel a sense of accomplishment. I felt weary. If I didn't know that beating that fight was the only way to get the Dalamud Horn, I would not have spent weeks on it. That's not why I play games. I wanted to be crafting. I wanted to be trying out different classes and skill combinations. I wanted to be having fun, not wearing myself out trying to increase my reaction times.
"Learn and improve your play." You VERY obviously were not reading. The story mode fights are the limit of my physical capabilities. How, pray tell, should I learn to improve my physical capabilities? And why, for the love of all things holy, should I have to? I don't want everything nerfed, I don't want the current storyline dungeons or primal fights made easier. I want to experience the continuation of the Bahamut storyline. That's all.
I fail to see how getting the story devalues anyone else's experience o.O Do you feel that your experience has been devalued if someone gets a weapon drop on their first hard mode Garuda fight when it took 10 runs for yours to drop? If it does, then I'm not the one with the problem here.
Also, I've agreed previously that most MMO's are not my forte. I've only played 2. FFXI and FFXIV. This is because I know they're not my forte. FFXI allowed more time for me to think and react, but when the new expansion content was locked behind gear requirements, I quit. FFXIV originally allowed me to go through the game and full storyline with Weaver as my main class, that was totally my forte. I'm still part of the game because crafting still exists and I still have content that appeals to me and that does not create a barrier to my enjoyment. AND because I want to find out the rest of the Bahamut storyline.
"Because the story" You're telling me that you didn't want to continue playing Final Fantasy 6 because of the story?? LOL
Talk about devaluing an experience ^^ There may be no shame, but there's no enjoyment either.
Also, there is this:
Why are you ok with it eventually being nerfed for EVERYONE, but not ok with instead, an alternate story mode?
People arguing against this idea are not making a whole lot of sense to me.
Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.
You were warned.

You mean where you just weaken Deathwing and let one of the other major NPCs of WoW get the killing blow right, god i hated that about that game...it always bugged me but i wanted my character to be THE hero...not one of the many adventurers that just helped out while someone from the WoW big shot NPC's took all the glory, at least they gave you some loot for your troubles. :/
I really like how XIV makes you feel like you are the hero of the main story....unlike that other game.
BECAUSE it's eventually being nerfed makes a separate, additional mode redundant and unnecessary.
You're playing the game to play the game and enjoy the story. If you don't want to play the game then why are you playing the game? Hard challenges are a part of the game and designed the way they were meant to be played.
Now, I'm not saying an example of this doesn't exist, I have no idea, but I've never heard of an MMORPG enabling an easy-mode or story-mode for people who want to see the story in their high level content.

It felt like Thrall was kill stealing you like in older MMORPGs, lol.
I wanted to touch base on this too.
I don't think you quite understood what point I was trying to make when I said this.
The point behind "because story!" was that people were using it as an excuse to push bad changes on the game in the same way that politicians and legislators use "For the children" and "Because terrorism!" to push bad laws and legislation through congress.
It's a foot in the door because nobody wants to deny people the story! Just in the way that nobody wants to be that person who hates children or loves terrorism, even though you don't agree with the justification.
I absolutely WANT you to see the story. I'm not some story hating person who thinks nobody should see story, but I don't want to see "because I want to see story" as the justification for making bad changes to the game.
Ah, I can understand that. Thank you for the clarification!
However, I want to ask why this is a bad direction? Are the current story mode primal fights a bad decision? They don't provide gear rewards, and what I'd like to see is a comparable Coil instance. Story mode, similar mechanics, but easier. No rewards, but storyline and lore goodness.

The Story mode primal fights aren't an easier alternative to the Hard Modes. They're both part of the story, just different parts. You can't do the story mode and get story completion for the hard mode.Ah, I can understand that. Thank you for the clarification!

And as others have said, the problem is that they already plan to nerf the content to make it easier, it's a design choice they made. So now you want them to stop working on something else, to make this separate mode? For what usually is a rather small minority of people?
I doubt they will put one in this late in the dev stage now that they are going to make 1-5 easier in the next few months after they release the new content, BUT maybe the devs will look at this thread and maybe change their minds on how they make future content..it may or may not happen.
Can you really say that? do you have the facts and numbers to show that casuals ARE the small minority of players of the game?...come on now. lol

Hmm, you raise a good point.Ah, I can understand that. Thank you for the clarification!
