This is why the 2nd part of my example mentions the new game being "World of Starcraft". World of StarCraft would be a new game.

Two games in the same genre, with similar titles, as you even said, character races and famous npc's, from the same developer are perfectly fair game to compare to one another.

Who are you, or is anyone to say that "This game was never made for you. "?

I seriously doubt a single person from the Dev team would agree with that statement.

Most of the early adopters of FFXIV, and a huge percentage of the 1.0 playerbase were FFXI players.

For once, the chicken-littles are right, FFXI is dying. There have been design decisions made that almost look like the death of FFXI was intentional.

SquareEnix likely has little interest in running two server farms at once when they could simply move the player base from the old to the new.

FFXIV does not exist in a vacuum. It is not its own individual game, it stands on the shoulders of FFXI. Were it not for the successes of FFXI, there likely would not be 2nd Final Fantasy MMO.

There are changes made that I agree with as my own play style has become more casual as I have aged. I was in highschool when FFXI came out. Now I am married, paying a mortgage, and working in a highly competitive field. I have less time than I used to, so faster content is nice.

So I ask you Cynric, if FFXIV was never made for people who play SquareEnix MMO's, who did SquareEnix make it for?
