Same with me, too bad I can't recall if there was a middle option for only drastic change where needed.
There wasn't, it was a yes or no question. And that's basically why I voted 'No' for my part in the poll. No matter what, a Yes answer would come back to bite me on the proverbial arse
somehow.
11. Would you welcome changes to FINAL FANTASY XIV that would drastically alter the rules already set in Eorzea?
Yes - 85.2%
No - 14.8%

Looking back, it was obvious they weren't looking for an instructive reply. They were asking at the height of the rage over the state of things at launch, in over-simplistic terms without properly defining what they meant. They weren't asking permission, they were engineering a positive answer they could wave at dissenters in the event the v2.0 project went wrong. 'Well at least we listened to our customers!' they'd have cried, had it crashed and burned.
Now I'm not saying people would have voted against the rebuild had it been less manipulatively phrased and given more options, but seriously, looking back at the PR, the way they scapegoated Tanaka (yes he made some big screwups and all but they
really went out of their way to play up his fault and keep attention away from Wada and co's role in things).. I can't see things any other way than they were betting everything on the answer being a majority yes. Thus the timing, the lack of details, and the lack of a middle ground option. Not that it wasn't an incredibly safe bet, of course.
Yes I'm a mite bitter about Player Poll 01. Bite me >.>
