They need to just increase the gil drop for killing mobs. 1 gil per mob level, double it for 4man bosses and quad it for 8man bosses. Then divide the total by the amount of players in group.
Problem Solved.

You guys have not factor higher level trade levequest offer more gils. We have tons of lvl 50 battle class player but how many lvl 50 crafter you see around? Once the crafters reach that level, the gil generation in the system is going to be much more balance than now.
and yes, the battle class will need to be able to sell crafter something. Making dungeon gears sellable is a good way to fix this.
double the estimated average repair bill as a gil reward for completing instances
.111958 percent shy
Better leve payouts is a good start imo. Also perhaps gil awards for successful completion of instances thus I can actually pay for the repairs I get in them and maybe a bit more on top of that. These are things that should be hard for RMT 'businesses' to abuse and allow legit combat players to make a bit of gil to pay the bills/teleport costs/buy some things occasionally?

Make the leveling of a DoH/L easier. Since there is nothing in the main quest that encourages you to level a crafting class. No reason a normal player should feel required to game triple turn-in leves to level a class in a cost efficient manner.
But mostly these are growing pains. SE has never released a AAA MMO before. Think if them like a little brother/sister, they have to touch the stove top before being taking the warning seriously.
The biggest, and most amusing irony of this thread is that the players who are struggling to make money keep suggesting that the players with wads of cash don't understand economics.
They then give this crap argument about how the Market Board is steadily sucking the economy dry 10% at a time. Yes, this is a money sink, but there are plenty of money springs.
Weird how I can make money, gathering, then crafting, then completing leve quests which is only adding money to the economy.
Then I see people talking about deflation, but I'm selling stuff and see no evidence of that. Sure prices go up and down due to supply and demand, but as a gatherer primarily I can always find something I can sell 200 gil per unit, I go pick it from the ground and make my cash... simples.

AAA MMO, the dumbest phrase ever created, there is no such thing. What you meant to say is they have never catered to the masses and god help me I hope the masses leave.
Gil is not hard to earn, period. I play maybe 3 hours a day and have earned since release probably 3+ mil. None of which was launch gouging.
It takes less than an hour to spiritbond a full set of cheap lvl 45+ gear. Assuming you do every slot and III materia sells at around 20k, minimum that is 150k on an hours time.

because that's the mmo-mentality today
The problem, my friend, is that most of the MMO-mentality today includes playing for two weeks and being in full endgame gear so you can go around showing off your cool armour to everyone. When this isn't possible, it will be considered a grind.
It would be fun to see these people back in the old MMO days where stuff was actually hard to obtain.
Just add a sustainable way to make money. Crafting isn't sustainable, all that's doing is funneling money out of the pockets of most into the pockets of few.
There are thousands of tried and tested MMO methods to do this. The daily quests are a start but where are they?
People who claim it's "so easy to make money" should check out the Tonberry economy. Most materia prices dropped below 5k, pre-relic weapons are as low as 2000 and since everyone can farm Darklight out of the easy 8 man raid no problems there is no incentive to buy the very-hard-to-craft iLvL 70 stuff. Everything has bottomed out so badly you're lucky to pull any profit at all now from most things. The result? A few hundred people are left with millions of gil from everyone else since they spanked the economy early. I know people with over 10mil now.
