Just add a sustainable way to make money. Crafting isn't sustainable, all that's doing is funneling money out of the pockets of most into the pockets of few.

There are thousands of tried and tested MMO methods to do this. The daily quests are a start but where are they?

People who claim it's "so easy to make money" should check out the Tonberry economy. Most materia prices dropped below 5k, pre-relic weapons are as low as 2000 and since everyone can farm Darklight out of the easy 8 man raid no problems there is no incentive to buy the very-hard-to-craft iLvL 70 stuff. Everything has bottomed out so badly you're lucky to pull any profit at all now from most things. The result? A few hundred people are left with millions of gil from everyone else since they spanked the economy early. I know people with over 10mil now.

Yeah, I have friends on Phoenix. They're rolling in cash selling materia, crafting gear, vampire plants, pre-relic weapons and all sorts of rare crafting mats. They make 80-100k per sell on stuff. This is because your server is significantly behind when it comes to guilds, average player level and state of the economy.

"I play on a server that is quite far behind in terms of economy and character levels" isn't a valid basis for making a point.

Aside from the market, crafting is in fact sustainable from nothing more than the triple-turn-in leves, and this has precisely nothing to do with which server you are on, or how much money is in the economy. You don't have to sell anything on the market to make more than enough money from crafting to pay for your raiding. If you don't want to do this, that's when you have to turn to the market to sell the crafting drops that you get from killing mobs.
