The real problem with the cutscenes is that the dungeon clock continues to countdown even while viewing them. Now, normally, this isn't an issue, but when you start getting to the final story dungeons, it can really start to cause some problems. The Praetorium has something like 15 or 20 minutes worth of cutscenes, all of them vital to understanding the context of the battles. I mean, they're really good cutscenes.

But if you're with an inexperienced group, unfamiliar with the boss strategies, it might take you the entire 120 minutes to complete the dungeon. The cutscenes really eat into that time and make it nearly impossible for such a group to complete the duty. With experienced groups, who can clear the place in less than an hour, watching the cutscenes is perfectly fine.

I've been with both types of groups. Ironically enough, of course, is the fact that the inexperienced groups as the ones most prone to want to watch the cutscenes, thereby dooming themselves to failure.

Also, the dungeon cutscenes can be found under the "Duty" category of the Unending Journey.

Edit: Wow, the poster before me pretty much already said everything I said...

We finished with somewhere between 25-30 minutes on the clock. The only fight that is even moderately hard is the ultima weapon, and even that is fairly straightforward. Plus, it's a long fight, at best skipping the cutscenes might earn you one additional attempt if you're even getting close to finishing the fight. I won't say it would never make the difference, but I don't think it should be used to try to coerce people into skipping the cutscenes. I say everyone should play the game the way they want to play it... at least until the guy telling you how to play decides to start paying for your sub.

This goes both ways. The majority rule, it's the only reasonable fair way of doing things through duty finder.

You make a group yourself. You're the one asking a person to play the way you want them to.

You can ask anyone to do anything, but if the answer is "no" than it is rude not to accept it.

I haven't asked anyone to play a specific way. I just said that if you really want to speed run, or you really want to watch those cut scenes, you should probably make your own group, unless you want to take the chance on risking being the minority, and if you do, by using the duty finder it's only reasonable to comply to majority's rule. Whatever that may be.
