Did you even read?People said Gathering/Crafting is useless in FFXIV.... oh wait.... how do i not run out of Gil then?
There are many, many ways to make Gil. If people can not figure it themself and need even hand-holding for that, then i am sorry but NO!
And how can people complain about the only Penalty we are getting from fighting? You do not even lose Exp, just Durability on Gear. Do not have enough money to repair your Gear? Stop spaming the same Dungeon over and over and do something to fill your pockets. I seriously have no kind of sympathy for greedy people, which want their pockets filled magically, while running the same content over and over.
FFS the topic is NOT about people EARNING Gil it is about DEFLATION.

Topic Title:
Sounds like "earning Gil" to me, like the whole opening Post. Did you even read? Deflation is what would follow, if the "concerns" of the People in this Thread would be true and you would not be able to generate enough money. We need more ways to make gold in this game.
No just no. Anyone reading the opening post that has touched on high school economics can tell the post is about generating (note: the word GENERATING) Gil. Considering the word "economy" is used twice and the only things mentioned are inflows and outflows of Gil from the game it makes it even more clearer.

I get that part lol, but that is not the Problem here. To be more accurate:No just no. Anyone reading the opening post that has touched on high school economics can tell the post is about generating (note: the word GENERATING) Gil. Considering the word "economy" is used twice and the only things mentioned are inflows and outflows of Gil from the game it makes it even more clearer.
- Taxes will take money out of the Game.
- Leves will generate money.
- Repairs will take money out of the Game.
- Quests will generate money.
The Problem is simple:
As long as people do not want to level their Crafts, for being able to repair their Gear themself, they will go to the NPC and push money out of the Economy. As long as people do not want to level their Gather/Crafts to "circulate" the existing Money in the Economy, they will push money out of the Economy. As long as people do not want to do certain Content to create more "Income", it will end up once more in lowering the existing amount of Gil.
The Problem is the people and what they do, how they do it and not how the economy is set. And that is why i said "if the concerns of the people would be true and you could not generate enough money". <--- you realized i also used the word generate?
To give you one example i saw the last days:
People sell Allagan Pieces on the Market for the same amount of money, they would get from the NPC. WHY? Why would you even do that, beside paying the tax? Some maybe try to make some quick Gil and sell them for more then they would get from the NPC, but after all selling it for the exact same Price, does not make sense at all.

You do realise that Grade 5 Dark Matter no longer grows on trees (so to speak), right? And the only two sources of Dark Matter V do absolutely nothing to stop gil from exiting the economy.
It's only been mentioned a few dozen times in the thread.
Edit: Let me sum it up for you in case you're unwilling to go back and check on what people have been saying -
Grade 5 dark matter is needed to repair level 50 gear. It has two sources.
1) NPC vendors for 350 gil. This is a very large amount of money to repair a single piece of gear, and only saves you gil if that single piece of gear cost more than 350 gil at the NPC repairman to repair, which implies it's at 25% or under durability (Something which people should not be entering Content Finder dungeons in, unfortunately)
2) You can trade slightly over 5k Grand Company seals for 5 pieces of Dark Matter V. You have 12 gear slots. Doing a single FATE (the fastest repeatable source of GC seals) gives you around 250 seals at best. This means you need to do 20 FATEs and get a Gold rank to repair five pieces of gear. 12 pieces of gear would require 44 FATEs, which is not only tedious, but also gives you a repair bill far higher than the gil and seals from the FATEs would have returned. Unless you join a FATE party and go AFK, which is not, I believe, a good solution to all these problems.

Yes, but i do not see the Problem here. You can get them via Company Seals and that does not rely on Gil. I gained around 40k GC Seals the last 3 Days and i am running out of things i could spend them on. People could even make more in 3 days, so Dark Matter does not really rely on Gil "only". You could buy them for sure, but yeah.. thats up to the People and how they want to spend their money, like i said before.
And this also a different Problem, that people do not care enough for "how many times" they die. A little more careful acting would help with this of course. But hey... SE could get rid of Repairs and bring back Exp-Penalties.I am all for it.

If your idea of solving repair issues is to chain 44 FATEs in a row every single time your durability starts getting low (for the record, death is not the only thing that reduces item durability), I don't think we can establish a common ground on which to have a reasonable debate. Our ideals of what a MMORPG should be differ too much, and I'm not really into masochism.
