But what happens when something dies too quickly for each member of the team to expend 3 (or even 1) stamina bars? The fights in this game right now are way too quick to account for that. Peregrine's fix is one of the only decent ones, gives room for leniency but punishes people who are afk for too long.
but what is considered too long? 30 sec? 1 min? 2min? the thing is mobs already die so fast that you can kill many mobs in just a few minutes for going to the restroom. if you limit it to 5 kills you have to do the bathroom break in under 1 min tops or you lose out. that's not fair to the ones that have been in a party for hours and has to stop for a few munutes to pee.But what happens when something dies too quickly for each member of the team to expend 3 (or even 1) stamina bars? Well I'm personally of the opinion that they shouldn't put any systems in place to stop this as it just ends up hurting legitimate players. Peregrine's suggestion is one of the few I'm relatively okay with.but what is considered too long? 30 sec? 1 min? 2min? the thing is mobs already die so fast that you can kill many mobs in just a few minutes for going to the restroom. if you limit it to 5 kills you have to do the bathroom break in under 1 min tops or you lose out. that's not fair to the ones that have been in a party for hours and has to stop for a few munutes to pee.
Not putting it in ends up hurting legitimate players. Having players with more levels than they actually earned creates less demand for players with certain skills, adds to the generic feeling of the game that is being called too generic already, skews the demographic mean to the point where it is no longer a valid data parameter (players who afk grind each other generate statistically outlying character level profiles that skew the developmental data much like the richest 10% of the population skew the mean income level of a country to an irrelevant number, and median is actually more appropriate), creating a false average for which to base design off of, give access to high-level assets to more people than intended, opens up RMT business avenues that weren't there before, and puts players at the awkward position of having to deal with players who are too clingy of the feature.
If they're not on, they're not on. That IS one of the old tenets of MMORPGs that DOES need to stay relatively preserved.
You can not encourage afk levelling like this system does. RMT alone will abuse the **** out of this with impunity. It is not only the right, it is the DUTY of developers to protect the play of everyone by limiting the playstyle choices of others.
Not only do the devs have the right to remove this "choice" they have the duty to. Players have no right to get afk SP. It is not an i'm okay you're okay don't tread on me issue.

I still don't understand why people think they need to create a "system" to "fix" this problem. It isn't a problem if the game is difficult and mobs are a challenge, it's as simple as that.
I never suggested putting rules in place to stop afk levelling, my post was meant to highlight the morality of (or lack thereof) of doing so.this is the point, but is also the issue. the point is any rule that was made to stop the person that is intentionally leveling their character by auto following could wind up hurting the ones that had to go potty in the middle of a few hour party. if a rule lets people take actions based off discretion where does that line get drawn? remember we are not the ones with the gm tags so we have no say in who would get punished for it.
I once fell asleep in 11, in a japanese party in the mid 30s while out in the jungle
when i woke up i had gained 2 levels
just thought id share that lol

oh yeah i wasn't meaning as a contradiction of you post. i agree being towed behind level after level for cheating ranks is wrong and should not be done, but i do not see how a rule, other than the ones already in game, can stop this without hurting the active people in parties that need a 1 or 2 minute potty break.
i do agree it is immoral to the extreme to afk leech for levels, but i do not see it immoral to say i an going to auto follow you real quick while i use the bathroom. i was just saying to take an action that stops the first will also hurt the second.

Bathroom break progress is a courtesy of the devs. It doesn't actually hurt you at all to kill your sp after you enter no commands for 400 sp.
