Link to E3 live video at the pertinent time for this, for those who need source! They aren't getting rid of skirmish. They are, however, doing adjustments to it. It was either in the last live letter or the E3 live video where they mentioned it. They're thinking of adding signature bosses of the series into Skirmish as final bosses. Think of ff13-2s coliseum dlc fights. So Skirmish will be back, but how the content is organzied is still up for debate.
Sentinel gear will still be around in A Realm Reborn.Almost all the items that could be obtained in 1.0 will be around in ARR; however, the implementation period and how they're obtained may be slightly different.

While Sentinel gear is prolly the next step up from Cobalt armor, Militia armor is better. I really wanna know about the Miltia armor originally gotten through hamlets and the miltia hat, which was a very rare mage piece. It never really hit the ward markets ever. Don't forget about the darklight armor and heavy dark steel, which was fairly popular, but would slow your endurance cause of weight.

the Militia items are Unique/Untradeable so maybe that the reason you never saw them in the ward lol. Also not sure what you taking about darklight slow your endurance cause of weight. Last time i check that was not part of this game. While Sentinel gear is prolly the next step up from Cobalt armor, Militia armor is better. I couldn't think of the word, so I just said endurance, I forget which attribute it reduces a lot.
Well I seen Militia hat in the wards, I can't remember if others.
That gear is so much a kick-ass gear that I want it! @___@;While Sentinel gear is prolly the next step up from Cobalt armor, Militia armor is better. It's so representative of the gear from FF12. All the soldiers wore it, so it make it iconic. Darklight armor make you look like a walking fortress and I hope they don't make it obsolete. (only if they introduce "Judge armor", I'm all for that!) ^^
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!

Not sure how you saw it, it say Unique Untradable on it for both 1.0 and 2.0 version. Darklight lower Evasion and it so little it does not matter.

I'm not sure what you're thinking about. Wrong game perhaps.
