    The new prophecy~

Dawn may banish even the darkest night - Obviously transition from Umbral era into Astral.

Yet ever shall primal desires burn. - A nod towads Bahamut, if not all of the Primals in general.

Two swords shall vie to lay them low--
A blade born of light and a blade forged of might.
Alas, man may entrust his fate unto but one.

My theory on the last few verses...

    Ishgard and Garlean.

Ishgard is known as being something of a church ruled archetype (right word? not sure actually). Where, in this game's version, is ruled by their own Pope like figure.

That's my theory on 'Blade born of Light'

and the Garlean Empire, being 'blade forged by might'

Ishgard is more inclined towards the divine, holy influences. Whereas Garlean is against magic, but rather focuses on machineary and industry to work their means into ends. Thus the 'forging' part of the verse.

So, might it be concluded that at some point through the storyline we'll have an option to either procure Garlean technology, either by stealing it and having Cid build us something for our own use. Or something like a temporary alliance with the Garleans if we should do such a thing to lay down Bahamut for mutual need then return to fighting against them.

As one particular old phrase goes "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" albiet tentively.

I don't think that was specifically a 'prophecy' per se, but more a metaphor for the Eorzean Alliance and the Empire, although which side is 'light' and 'might' depends on your point of view. After all, the Garleans believe they're on the side of light, out to vanquish the 'evil' in the form of the Primals and the beastmen who summon them (and of course, they don't differentiate between true beastmen and people with the Echo who can commune with them - ala, the player), but naturally, it's easier to afix the idea of 'might' to the Empire, due to their obvious military technological superiority.

Also, as far as Ishgard is concerned, they worship Halone the Fury after all, and are somewhat zealous in their belief as well (regarding the rest of the Twelve as lesser deities and those who worship them as heathens.), so I'm not very inclined to attach the 'blade of light' moniker to Ishgard for that reason.

i don't know much of our lore ...i'ma just say it as how i see it if i read it without knowing anything of ffxiv and it's lore and then you can do it with lore lol.

Dawn may banish even the darkest night - Obviously transition from Umbral era into Astral. (world gets mostly destroyed by group, aka the group is what is left for most part, so yeah you may destroy the world for your own reasoning's but..)

Yet ever shall primal desires burn. - A nod towads Bahamut, if not all of the Primals in general. (..those who live still have there human nature and desires in them, primal desires, good or bad even if thinking primals in the game i would think)

Two swords shall vie to lay them low-- (2swords are created to keep them desires down, keep people in there places)

A blade born of light and a blade forged of might. (light = religion and blade= army of goverment)

Alas, man may entrust his fate unto but one. (let the fighting begin again, history repeats itself from those who act like they are light when they are the true darkness) /end

I remember that huge sword/pillar that fell out of dalamud as Bahamut broke free. It was referred to as a key and having significance in the new story.

Then I recalled that Dalamud was supposedly man-made by might of Allagan technology. By comparison, the summoning of the twelve created simmilar objects to seal Bahamut, but made of light.

    I think I'm smelling something plot-centric here.

In the french Prediction, it's "louisoix le preux". you can translate it by "Louisoix the valiant" XD

And the French prediction is a little bit different

"Even if the moonlight blinded us
The dawn will get up one day
The chaos reign over the world
    And engenders corrupt deities
An immaculate blade which will banish them
A dark blade wich will enslave them
The only one will be handled"

Sorry if my english is not very good q^_^p

The English translations have usually been tweaked and embellished so much that they miss the original message, which can be seen in the other languages (not just Japanese). Thanks for posting the French translation. (You combined 2 lines tho. )
