Offtopic maybe? But I got sent this link by a gay friend of mine this morning, I figure it's a bit light hearted and something some would find amusing.
(Also a great reason to allow SSM! haha)
clicky!

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
I mean heck, 3 people who have served in the highest General Officer positions of USA have been shamed into retiring due to infidelity. This makes me question whether we should even have heteros serve in the military.

Anyone who calls other people dumb for disagreeing with their opinion isn't the smartest peanut in the turd either.
I really hope they go with the "Soul Partner" idea someone else proposed. That really does seem to be the only way of addressing this that everyone can agree with and that doesn't conflict with the fact that some people play this in countries where SSM is banned.
Wow, this topic still alive
There is a difference between having a differing opinion on what your favourite ice cream, video game, or rock band is and having a differing opinion on basic human rights.
It is a matter of fact that people who don't accept something like same sex marriage or homosexuality in general are closed-minded. There is no reason and there has never been and never will be a reason why it cannot be acceptable. It doesn't hurt anyone, it doesn't hurt anything.
Even if you're a religious fanatic and think that your imaginary friend is going to be angry and judge the same sex couple, that is not up to you. Leave that up to your imaginary friend to do the judging.
It would only be accepted by everyone if the term is universal for 100% of X|V unions, and not "marriage for some, soul partners for others".
Even as a married woman the word 'marriage' sounds so archaic and it's been marred by years of fighting.
Soul partners / bond partner etc is something I could totally get behind irl too!

Except they aren't equal. There is no biological way for two people of the same sex to create offspring with each-other. (I apologize in advance if biological facts aren't politically correct, or offend people)You forgot the group that believes no government or organization should be aloud to extend rights and benefits to one group of people without extending those same rights to everyone.
If the contention is the word marriage then no one should be aloud to use it. You can't make two completely equal things and call them by two different names and expect people to not get offended.

You may think "marriage" is just about nothing more than celebrating two people romantically involved each other. But for the last 5000 years, civilization has treated 'romance' as only one aspect of it. (and in arranged marriages, it might not be an aspect at all)
You want to change the meaning/purpose of marriage from it's historical roots.
Others will disagree, so don't be a hater.

Marriage has nothing to do with offspring lol.
