I'm pretty sure the biggest reason people want same sex marriage in this game is because they have two accounts and want to marry their alt. At least that's my reason.

Louisoix wouldn't approve, he wanted us to survive and prepare ourselves and the kids to protect Eorzea... Same sex marriage won't help us having kids to prepare in the first place..
Yes, thats why we adopt. Although, I'm more keen to adopt a needy roegadyn myself.
Joking aside and getting back to the topic, this marriage mechanic would need to have benefits for the player base to make it worth investing in. Make it a gil sink, make it a quest or that you need a house. Something like that.
I think a union, marriage or whatever you want to call it is a fine idea, because it leads to building a strong community and like real life if you don't want to deal with it, you can just go on your way. No one is forcing you to make friends, or attend community functions. So in short make marriage fair, and equal to all people or leave it out.

Louisoix wanted us to live and be happy, and if he really is that small minded I would rather be a garlean, all they care about is if you'd fight for them. If Louisoix truly would believe something like that then I will become the new High Subligarious >:O

Louisoix is actually homosexual.
hows them apples.

well, sorry.
i just wanted to know if i could find some fellow travelers here in the gay community for the PMM -
the Polygamists Marriage Movement.
doesn't look good so far tho. :/
considering an extra thread.
i mean i could imagine some people agreeing on a marriage with 3 Mi'qote =o
w/e, gl with your request guys =)

Louisoux wanted to save Eorzea, all of it. Not some part of it. You think he was hemming and hawing over the pirates of Limsa raking part in the operations? Or the money grubbing bankers of Uldah?
I'm pretty sure our lives being saved does not turn into some mandate to reproduce incessantly for all the npcs that were lost, except for the most crackpot of folk.
Besides, what context does that have on us as players? None!

Getting back to my train of though!
What difference does this make? Something is telling me people are forgetting that "HOLY COW" this is a "GAME", and should be as far removed from the issues from day to day in the "OMG" real world as possible. In 2.0 if you are "THAT" happy go lucky wanting to get married, when we are remaking characters simply make a character "compatible" with the character you want to get married to. Case solved.
If SE have any sense, they will make the entire thing for "show" only granting no special treatment to people who do go through the procedure. Looping to my previous post of signed rings... There's a strong need for people to stop making a molehill in to a mountain. Anything in game is simply that, in game fun... you'll not have kinds in game, or adopt. You were not saved by Louisoix to procreate... more so to take revenge on the being that just distorted your (in game) home in the span on 2min!
People need to stop with all this high horse crap, considering from the people here 2 in 100 will bother to do in game marriage.. if even.

It's a way around the issue but it doesn't really solve anything. It's like saying "Well if two men want to get married, one of you should have a sex change operation so you can do so!" Also what if they don't want to get married at launch but later in the game they find someone who they want to marry but is of the same gender? Can't remake your character again (that we know of).Getting back to my train of though!

I agree that it should be simply a "for show" kind of thing. However you, along with a lot of other people somehow, don't quite understand the argument. This isn't about marriage in general. That's being implemented, no doubt. The issue I have at least, is that it is being restricted. Not all players will be able to use this feature. It's unfair to a number of their paying customers. They're being told "Sorry, your character genders are the same so you can't use this feature." It should be for fun yeah but everyone should be able to partake in that fun.If SE have any sense, they will make the entire thing for "show" only granting no special treatment to people who do go through the procedure.
