    Doesn't even matter about any of that because no one knows why they took them out other than "To focus on gameplay". You can come up with excuses as to why and explanations of how to solve it but it's moot because im I sure they know what they're doing and you don't know what they're doing behind the scenes.

    The problem I have with some people here is they're throwing statements around like "its alpha" and "it will be fixed in beta" when clearly the most recent dev post regarding the matter states they were intentionally removed, so why people are so positive it will be fixed is beyond me.
    Just because I quote you doesn't mean I disagree with you. I also don't think they should just "let it be" just because it's alpha.

    The Rukirrii explanation as to why they got rid of the transitional animations is cited directly in the quote form Rukirrii. They got rid of the transitional animations because they are focused on gameplay. Nothing more there to understand.

    Despite removing transitional animations, they are still adding other battle related animations, as referenced by the next quote from Rukirrii.

    Do us a favor. Read those two quotes and don't add any commentary from this thread and come to your own conclusion. If you understand English you'll realize they are getting rid of some animations and adding others regardless of the reason. That is what is happening thus far.

    My post was merely a summation of that.

    Freedom from animation lock does not preclude good animations.

    Besides, the poster I was responding to was suggesting that the slow-down animation was responsible for the "cannot cast while moving" message, which is just wrong, since that message is a result of a miscommunication between server-client. Those animations are client side, not server side, and are interruptible anyway, so they have no bearing on gameplay beyond making it look better.

    There is no animation lock associated with most of the animations people want back.

    There's not even a turning animation in 2.0; players just hover over the ground while they rotate their point of view. It looks pretty amateur, at least compared to 1.0.

    There's a lot of information that just wasn't addressed. They specifically said in the last letter that in THIS one they would give out information on PVP.

    Did we get any information? Nope.

    Actually, during the live letter I did notice a turning animation.

    ...animators / modelers / texture artists / shading & lighters are different parts of the pipeline... so.

    The animators don't have anything to do with the scenery of the game or anything. Besides..the animations were perfectly fine in 1.0 so like previously posted, the work was already done. No reason to just not keep it in.

    Just some stuff I want to bring up.

    1) Even if they don't want to add so many movement animations as they had before, the ones they do have in the alpha need to be improved.

    2) No where have they said they are going to improve them so until they do I'm not going to take anyone's word that "they will get better, just be patient, it's an alpha."

    3) To compare what I see with the most recent mmo I played (and quit) GW2 does also have rebound and return to rest animations (not as good as FFXIV 1.0, but), and the game runs smooth (aside from, again, lag). The existence of such animations are not necessarily what cause the game to be clunky.

    4) Another option would be to render them only for your own character, and maybe others depending on how many are on screen (for example an instance would render for the whole party, but in a crowded city it wouldn't bother)

    I like how a lot of people just assume they know how modeling/animations/blahblahblah works (enough to tell SE that what they did was wrong).

    Not only do a lot of people have no idea how it works, they don't know how SE's engine works.
