The awesome side moon walk at 25:40
The awesome walking backwards while doing a 180 spin at 25:50
Really improved XDPlease do, link away the time you saw turning animations, and that he doesn't walk backwards and spins on the spot.
You're saying you saw something that the devs said they took out on purpose. lol.
Well, on that point at least we have had official word.
v1.x was limited by the PS3 - we've had developer responses pointing out that the copy/paste and lack of large-scale environmental variation within zones was a side-effect of the PS3's limited RAM. It's supposedly why we now have smaller zones; to accommodate the variation everyone demanded inspite of the PS3.
That being said though, they've also said that the new engine was built with the long-term in mind, and that upgrading the game to be within the specs of another machine - the PS4 say - when the time came that they could leave the PS3 behind, was not out of the question.

In the "official" alpha video, it seems to me they went out of their way to avoid the "weird" sideways walking. I'm not sure if there is a different camera setting where the camera locks to the character but it looks a lot better to me. The first time i saw the trailer i thought animations had been fixed. Then came the live letter and clearly we were right back to sideways walking and sliding all over the place.
If devs are listening: is it the camera setting? Is it the difference between controller and keyboard? Will we have any ability to avoid these type of movements?
Really in any video or trailer they have posted I can't see any sideways/ moonwalking. So they must know how odd it looks and there must be a way to avoid these movements.
Not to be all negitive - love the environments looks a thousand time better![]()
1:03:50 The tall Hyur(?) White Mage looks like his feet are shuffling while he turns?
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Right around 26:50 - 26:54 right when he stops he swivels slightly and there is definitely a shuffle in there. then right after that everyone crowds around him so it's tough to notice anymore. But I noticed it again around 27:33 - 27:35. I fell asleep shortly after this part so I have to go through and watch the rest.
EDIT: Forgot the link lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAa7D...ure=plpp_video
EDIT: Just saw it again at 27:50 - 27:54. Did anybody see these?
Are we sure that they didn't say it was removed temporarily? Is it possible something was lost in translation? Because don't forget...there's going to be a PS3 version..and I'm sure the PC version will come with gamepad support. This is just the optimal way of controlling the character with keyboard and mouse. I don't think you'll be sliding or whatever people are complaining about if you use a controller.
I can't believe how angry people are over this. I mean, come on. You'll live. XI's character animation didn't have swivel animations at all. No one seemed to care then. And when you'd be locked on a target, you would back up, but everyone else saw you literally turn around and walk slowly. And when you'd strafe around a target. To everyone else, they just saw the normal run animation. This time you can always see how everyone is moving. Anyone mention that? No...straight to the negativity.

I would also like to point out, in the live letter, Yoshi-P points out around 1:12 That people said this looks good enough to be beta. And he says that he's not satisfied with where the game is yet so they're going to continue working on it.
He did, and I saw it too. The devs said they removed the gradual stop animations, not turning in place.
