And what about people who have never played an MMO? Is the fact that those mobs don't aggro if you don't see them or that they even aggro common knowledge? Or common knowledge to those who play MMO's? People aren't stupid for not automatically knowing game mechanics.

I would say those people chose to be ignorant, and should face the consequences for that.
Google/FFXIV wikies are plenty for information and knowledge.
If they don't know game mechanics, they can learn, and should.
It's the same with any game genre.

I think it's fun to make mistakes, learn from it and adapt so I don't make those mistakes again.
