Only thing FF 13 was lacking for me was back tracking to old area's.
Heh, when I played 13, I remember everything I hated about 10. Nomura Action game = no thanks. And FF2 is easily the worst of the numbered series.

Fortunately, FF11, and FF12 (esp intl. Zodiac) were so good, SE got lots of slack from me with 10 and 13...

But overall, I'm rather tired Nomura's art and I completely disagree with Toriyama/Kitase's philosophy when it comes to FF games:

    From Wikipedia (emphasis mine):

Motomu Toriyama has a similar game design philosophy to Yoshinori Kitase. He believes his strength is in creating games that are very story-driven.[2] He also believes that it becomes very difficult to tell a compelling story when the player is given a huge amount of freedom to explore.[3] According to him, the most important aspect of a Final Fantasy game is the characters.[4] Toriyama aimed for the game design of the first half of Final Fantasy XIII to play like watching a film. The reason was so the player could become absorbed with the story and characters and not get distracted or lost
This is why FFXIII was such a lousy Final Fantasy game, despite being a half-decent action game.

Sometimes I wish SE would just break the series up into subgroups:
    • Final Fantasy Worlds: FF1-9, 12,
    • Final Fantasy Dramatic Action: FF10, 10-2, 13, 13-2,
    • Final Fantasy Online: FF11, 14
    • Final Fantasy Tactics: FFT, A, A2, 12rw, etc.
    • Final Fantasy Dissidia: Dissidia, Duodecim, etc.

    Oh, and:
    • Final Fantasy Abominations: FFMQ
