Fiosha's story is more fun than yours.

If I were to tie multiple universes together I would use something that has existed in a form in all FF games, which would be Crystals that are the 4 elements. Also every FF has a political/corrupt government theme so I would also probably use those themes to centralize a universal theme and tie the story together. Just saying it could be done and done well.

Try expanding this part to join up a few worlds and see how weird/ridiculous it ends up?

Why would this be weird and ridiculous? You know how weird some people thought Quina was? Or that time Yuna and Tidus forced them selfs to laugh in a horrible voice acted monotone voice or riding a damn whale to the moon? Yeah but without any thought you have labeled an idea weird and ridiculous before any sort of concept has come forth.

They could still do something like this. YoshiP said he wants to turn the game into a theme park. They could make portals to other FF worlds where you fight famous bosses, or replay memorable parts of the old games. Blizzard did it on WoW with caverns of time having ppl replay stuff supposedly from the old RTS games.

In my own opinion, the game is not gonna be good, because it lacks of Originality, which is something Final Fantasy has always been good on, for how crappy some last games have been. This is My opinion, different from yours, deal with it and wait for people who support your opinion so you can be a family together =)

Yes, about as much as winning a lottery. Company doesn't produce game with a chance as high as winning lottery to make profit.
