So there's really only three telegraphs to worry about, even if the attack is 4 steps. Cutting redundant actions, in this case checking position for the second blade set, helps with reaction time.

Apologies, I am purely speculating. SE could trivially generate such data, but they don't give a shit.

we need to stop this "game too hard" thinking, the fight was unique but not hard at all, we are level 100 in the game at this point, you need to play the game for hundreds of hours to get here and yet you people are complaining basic AOE:s? REALLY? honestly, as bad as it sounds you people just need to learn the game and git gud. stop complaining about everything
Ah, the procession continues. Did you read the solutions offered to this issue that have no impact on you whatsoever, or do you just enjoy mocking others?

Actually, rereading, your gross exaggerations suggest this is actually a parody of all the other bullshit we've had to wade through in this thread. In which case, I apologize, but please include the "/s" next time.

And as I've mentioned elsewhere, I am no longer able to drive. Thanks for your concern about other road users.

That's a fair point, I hadn't though of it in that way before! Looking at it from that perspective, you have roughly 9 seconds from the second blades being "telegraphed" until they fire.

I say this not to be argumentative, but to offer support to others who struggle with overlapping AoEs.

Your breakdown above is helpful. I reached I think what is an equivalent conclusion by watching a guide at 0.25x. When I attempted to put this into practice, I found I wasn't even seeing the first barrette-like things until a second or two after they dropped. When I then tried to tie all this together and plan my route, I simply couldn't process the information and then move fast enough.

Based on similar struggles I've had with these kinds of mechanics, I figure somewhere between 50-100 wipes and the muscle memory and timing would develop. (I got to about 15 and lost interest since I've unsubbed anyway.)

People are welcome to view me as a complete idiot and make as much fun as they like, but I'm not lying about this, nor do I have anything like this kind of problem in other games. Moreover - and this will really horrify y'all - I was regarded as the most competent at PvE in my now disbanded FC. The farthest anyone else got was to be gated at Origenics (for similar reasons).

When the BLM changes were explained, it was clear that in 8.0 SE is doubling down on this combat design.

It is true that I could get carried through this duty, or I could spend a weekend developing that muscle memory to find the safe spots. But I think the question players and SE need to ask is: are people who struggle with this specific design choice going to bother jumping through such hoops? My friends all decided paying for a game that they'd always played primarily for the story had simply become a complete PITA. People don't pay to get annoyed. One referred to it as a Ponzi scheme.

I've been told explicitly by several charmers that "your kind" are not wanted in this game, and that I should go play Animal Crossing. I do have ACNH on my Switch, but I still like blowing things up so I'm playing EVE.

It's perfectly legitimate for SE to choose to gate the game in this way. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this is what SE wants, because it is more cost effective to quit pretending they welcome all players to their story-driven MMO.

To those who feel they are reaching their skill limits, I hope you find a solution that satisfies you. And please ignore the buffoons who apparently get their kicks by mocking others. It is, after all, just a game.

Love, peace, fur, double-swish Kat kiss.

Pretty sure FFIV is turn based, XIV is not. So I'm failing to see your point. But crack on being an absolute tool. Once you have something better to argue with, come back to me.

Nevermind the fact that every frickin' major job change that people have hated throughout Dawntrail, from VPR's Gnoxious Gnash being taken away to BLM's recent lobotomy were all done due to HARDCORE CONTENT DEMANDING IT and not the goddamn MSQ, and I would bet money that when the next major job change occurs, it'll coincide with the addition of Quantum or the next Ultimate, not any piece of normal content.

And the dumbest part is? If the player count gets super-low, like we're talking unsustainable numbers to get any content done, Square-Enix will likely subject the whole of Final Fantasy 14 to the same Mass Trust Event that Final Fantasy 11 went through. The more people leave, the more likely this game will end up with ALL content being reworked to be doable with NPCs.

The people cheering the departure of casuals are quite literally becoming the architects of their own destruction, and this is assuming the "huge 8.0 job changes" aren't going to be aping the mobile version anyway (because SE is creatively bankrupt and lazy), which is even more simplified than what we have already... though they'll probably blame that on casuals too even though I doubt there'll be many left by the next expansion.
This game is never returning to a 'golden age' -- The peak irony behind a lot of it, is many of the putrid responses are likely going to serve as a reason as to why the developers will completely backpedal their design -- Like they always do...

Thing is with the job changes is, it wouldn't surprise me if they mess this up, and then those that so joyfully deride the mentality of "Maybe this game isn't for u" will end up being the ones that complain, and then they will be met with the same player apathy.. Quite literally happens perpetually, happened in ShB when they started to double down with their design... This alone actually makes me excited for 8.0.

They don't fire quickly. You just haven't worked out how to read the mechanic in advance. In the environment, you will see some things spawn:

    |1
    (You stand here)
    2|
    |1
    2|

Once |1 goes off, you move to where 1| was. They appear there for absolutely ages before they fire off their orange AoE.

This gets combined with, I recall, a donut AoE, so dodging this in the middle can help. Then you just take out the add when you can.

Overall, I found the dungeon extremely easy, and not anything spectacular.
I am not asking for an easier mode for que'ing just for doing it with npc's
I do agree that they should not be afraid to make it easier when it's done with NPCs. They should just embrace NPCs as the "easy mode" and assume that people doing it with players are looking for a more challenging experience.

Not reading 10 new pages every day, but chiming in:

Firing quickly is highly subjective and may be actually too quick for some players to "read the mechanic in advance" and then process it.

Same - although I am trying to stop worrying about what others think of me/my performance.

Saying that, much like you, I had someone whom I thought was a friend say this to me once (on Discord):

Which admittedly hurt, because it's not as if I wasn't trying - I really was. Needless to say I'm no longer friends with that person.

I'm, arguably, marginally better at the game now then I was at that time but that wasn't the only time someone judged my performance and it led to my concern about being a burden to any team I join.

Apart from being horrible, it's striking to me they state they wouldn't report you for lethargic play. Like in all that sea of abuse they're trying to point out how reasonable and kind they are.

Wonder if they actually have any fun playing games?
