Ah yes the classic "healer shouldn't be allowed to enjoy the game unless they go sweaty tryhard mode"-reasoning.
Don't even try to sugarcoat it. Just rip the bandage off. So we actually got something to heal. :P
"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."

Is this still a thing? Why?

Well, it's like this. The majority of player base doesn't do high-end content. So, is it a wise move on Square's part to not make any effort to ensure a significant portion of that player base are enjoying their role in regular content?

Given the topic of this thread... I might have more interest in healing "high-end" content if it didn't seem to consist of, "lol, someone stood in the wrong spot, so now they're dead, and maybe also a few other party members."
I know where my rez button is. Maybe I want something other to do than plan for infrequently scheduled raid-wides?

Actually now that I think about it, the line of thinking of “just do high end to enjoy lol” scarily rhymes with the devs’ recent decision to pick ‘extreme/savage FTB’ over ‘casual/normal FTB’ in Occult Crescent.
It’s no surprise they’re attracting same type players who thinks ‘high ends’ is the answer of how to ‘have fun’ lol.

People always seem to miss with “go play high end content” that enjoying the act of doing an encounter is split into two parts
1) the encounter itself
2) the job you play
“lol go play savage” does nothing to fix the former it basically just says you can kinda mask it with the latter. Playing a healer in savage isn’t making the healer design shine, it’s hiding the fact that healers are barely functional messes behind the encounter design
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
