For those have not played it, certain areas on maps all have an associated level range, and the game automatically and seamlessly syncs you to roughly that level. While a max level character is still powerful, that means the content in the open world remains completely playable. You can easily go on adventures with lower level friends without gimping their or your experience, and you keep your unlocked abilities.
There was also a game that I played (can't remember which) that allowed you to share the quest you are doing. The person would also get it and see the objectives, requirements, and everything tied to the quest allowing you to help your friend. However, if you already completed the quest once, you won't get the full rewards for it.
