Many people love the patch tradition. They love the classic tradition of having the foray in X.25, which is a full year after expansion launch.

You know what's also tradition? Square Enix making bad decisions and going broke. Companies that suck and get themselves bought out. MMOs going into "maintenance mode" while investors loot the scraps.

You know what's not tradition? An MMO still being relevant after ten years without some drastic changes.

It's just that players are not very good at reading the information available in the game, they are not good at finding the official manuals on the lodestone and they are not good at observing the game the way I would as a veteran player and looking up information online will often just confuse them. Case in point, Active Help explains a lot of things I have to tell new players about on a regular basis.

So yes, a lot of information is on discord servers, but this is just a nice community trying to help people. It's not actually the only way. There is just so much in the game and so much information to consume about it that unless you've played as much I have, you will probably just be confused by it all without something like a discord community for what you're doing.

Because actually developing it takes time. It stands to reason that a large-scale content involves large-scale development.

No one says that these things do not take development time. But Square Enix is a big company, and if they truly wanted to, they could hire people (or move them from other departments) to make content like that right after expansion launch, and once every patch cycle. People are criticizing that Square does not prioritize development of that kind of content, drip feeding us at a slow pace. This is truly only a project management issue where either resources are misallocated or priorities are misaligned.

let's conveniently ignore the fact the complaints about the lack of field operation have been a hot topic for more than 2 years... Which is long enough to plan your development in a way it could be released in 7.1.

Like it was even needed. The rest of the creative fights and dungeon designs will be gone once they're done with them. As janky as they were I was still a fan of learning how much they experimented with things back in ARR.

Guess it'll be harder for newer players to question the current content designs if there's less remnants of what used to exist.

    Hmm depends I guess.
Normal runs to the normal end I would say casual because those are just normal dungeons.

Upper floors tend towards midcore after a while.

Solo to the end for me is a mix between midcore and hardcore.

Deep dungeons are actually good content to speak towards all players in my eyes.
The problem is that they got really lazy with EO (Allagans again, reused assets, nothing new, bad rewards) instead of upgrading what made them good in the first place.

Like I said those are just my takes on the different groups.
I just don’t see savage as midcore like some others tbh.

As someone who isn't very active in 14, what is changing to housing?

Right now, you will have the possibility to have space without the pillars in houses. But they talked about adding something later in the extension that will allow to have a bigger house inside that it is outside for money. So you will be allowed to have a big house inside, while getting a small outside, from what we got. maybe there will be limitation but we don't know yet and no date was announced.

As said, in due time they will implement a method that --With Gil--, you can remodel the interior of your House.
So your small can have the interior size of a Large or Medium, or if you prefer, the other way around.
The only thing that acquiring a Large or Medium would determine, is your usage of the exterior since it impacts the neighborhood in general, not your instanced area.
Plus, they are also adding that in those remodels, you can pick different options of pillars/stairs and even remove pillars so you have more room.

Housing enthusiasts (like me), will be probably spending a lot of time on this.

I let go of my house since I don't actively play but that sounds like a great addition.

No pillars is great too, it was always annoying to decorate around or incorporate into the design.
