So you would of been fine with Ryne popping up in DT to fill in a DPS role? IDK I feel like that would be contrived and really dumb.
Trusts should use what characters are there, and also summon a number of generic light warriors like Elidibus did in his fight.
It's getting pretty obvious when they just need more people there to fill out trusts, and I'd prefer they not write themselves into a corner like that too much more. Y'shtola, G'raha, and Estinien show up just in time for the lvl 99 trial, then they split off from the group immediately after.
We joked about how Thancred and G'raha can only tank because they needed to fill out the tank trust.
I'm all for the trust system even though I'd never want to use it. If the game starts to die out again, you're not going to want to spend 2 hours in Party Finder because Duty finder isn't popping for a story dungeon. It just shouldn't bleed into the actual story itself.
No. Give me 7 Pixies as my team for every Trail.

No... I love doing it with the NPC... I truly do. I wouldn't want them to change.
What I would want them to change is use the scions and NPC who were not even at the scene suddenly appear because a trial is upcoming and need a body.
We all know the NPC are phantoms in the duty, please deploy MSQ as it was supposed to be - and make NPC optional to pick from whether they are around or not.
I am heavy supporter of NPC as it teaches me the fight as I wipe and learn and get better. Immersion is nice too. It only gets ruined when the NPC appear out of nowhere.
DT scions has become about "we need body check so we are here for the fight, but otherwise we quietly sit behind."
This. Honestly, it affected my MSQ experience when I was in such a momentum when I realise I had to wait 22mins for the level 100 trial. I got it fixed by asking help from people to queue me. But still. Wouldve been a more fluid experience if I didn't have to wait.
A suggestion would be only allowing it for the MSQ purpose. Any other rerun would require real people.

The problem the OP is expressing is not you shouldn’t be able to do trusts because he doesn’t like them so you shouldn’t eitherThis. His problem is DT’s story was really really bad at actually giving organic reasons as to why the people you do duty support with are actually present in the story when you need them
Using the 99 trial as an example there is no justification for why graha, y’shtola and Estinian should have made it to the top of the everkeep before the fight, similarly their justification to take graha to the unlost world is weak and is just a way to bring a healer NPC to Alexandria
Trusts are good but they aren’t worth literally bending the story in stupid ways just to have the right people in the right place, especially when they refuse to use NPC’s who are already there and have justification to be there (why was oblivion not used in origenics for example)
I don’t want the trust system to go because that first story run with trusts is good gameplay, but I’ll take losing trusts over DT’s terrible justification to always have the correct scions in the correct places for trusts
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
Trusts are fine, they're pretty much non-canonical anyway with how you only unlock them after clearing content once (and not at all for Trials, incidentally). The Scions being in Trusts don't need to make narrative sense and occasionally, don't. [Thancred Spiderman meme goes here]
Duty Support, what is being discussed here, is a different beast. If the writers would remember that Duty Support doesn't have to use the Scions we wouldn't have to have this discussion.
Removing it from Trials isn't the answer though, I'd rather they include all Trials in it.
What is the answer is SE stop being consistently inconsistent, remember that in the past Duty Support was fine when it used random NPCs that had a decent narrative reason to be there and didn't need them to shoehorn the Scions in just to make up bodies. Worse is when the game goes to pull out the Azem crystal and then doesn't use it (to provide Duty Support).
The Duty Support cast for the first DT trial was pretty decent actually. The second Trial should've just filled the ranks with Oblivion members, they had enough reason to be there and help out.
The third Trial should've commited to the use of the Azem crystal and summoned "random" copies of John Fantasy, if it's good enough for players it's good enough for bots instead of not having Duty Support for an MSQ Trial at all.
I'll take my random adventurers when it makes narrative sense, I'll take summoned reflections when the use of the Azem crystal happens there canonically anyway, I'll take random NPCs from organizations we organically met on the way to the Trial who have an established reason and interest to be there and help, I would've taken hacked robot soldiers for anything involving Heritage Found and yes I'll take the Scions if there's a reason they're there other than "Oh I heard there's a Trial coming up so I thought I'd briefly drop in to provide a body for that before fading out of the story again".
Are half of those options any less shoehorned into the story than the Scions? Probably not, but I'm much more ready to forgive them for providing some random NPCs to make up the body count I can just ignore by not using Duty Support than I am of them phasing major characters in and out of the story just to make up numbers for a fight.
I wish I could use the trust system in every trial. I am an old woman, I will turn 65 this year.
I am slow in my reaction, my eyesight is horrible and well, you get the point. I've come across many nice and friendly people in the trials, that don't mind me being slower then usual, but I've also met some real nasty people, who basicly told me, that I am too old to play games and should do other things, that were more suited to my age. With the trust system, I can take my time. I can learn the fight and I don't have to be a burden on others.
