Nay, it's the reverse. Japanese and Korean MMO's don't do strict class adherance, and tie the entire role to one character model. So you end up in a game that either has too many DPS and not enough healers, or a game with too many healers and not enough DPS because the character models aren't pretty enough.

Meanwhile Western MMO's are universally ugly, and do strict class adherance (dual classing at most due to them nearly all being based on DnD.) Which means that Western MMO's usually spend very little of their budget on the art, regardless if they are large or small (look at a game called "Dark and Darker" to give you an idea) and instead focus on the mechanics

The difference with XIV, and probably only XIV is that it blends elements that would make sense in an Action RPG with elements that only work in a turn based TRPG. So the consequences of this is that you have players who don't like to play with other players because of the play style differences. So you get the Western player base who wants every class to be a melee DPS like how Western CRPG's work, and the Japanese player base who wants every job to adhere to it's role like you'd expect in Asian MMORPG's.

There is no middle ground that will make both player bases happy, and the Japanese player base generally agrees with the direction Square-Enix takes the game because it's a Japanese "Final Fantasy" game at it's heart, and people trying to turn it into WoW, or Fortnite, or ESO, or Fallout76, or anything else will just be kind of looked at funny. "If you want to play X game, play X game."

It's true, healing has become boring. It's become boring because the game has become essentially what all Asian MMO's become, a game where only DPS matters, even though other roles are available, you're basically committing to playing that role because the game is fundamentally broken balance wise in getting enough players to want to play all roles. Players only queue as healer because the queue is nearly instant, not because they want to play healer. Players only queue as tank because it's pretty much guaranteed a bonus, no other reason. So the result is you get a lot of people who play Tank and Healer at low skill levels because they treat it as a DPS.
