Healers are expected to dps now in WoW, it is wildly acknowledged in the community. In fact, they pretty much all have a fully fleshed out dps kit. Disc obviously, rdruid with dots, evoker with breaths and variations of flame (store heals which turns into a massive burst). It is the mark of a good healer to dish out dps while satisfying the much more stringent heal needs. Even the MDI (official pve competition) have healers do crazy dps, and sometimes be replaced. And that's much more challenging than any ultimate will ever be.
Besides, only the japanese seem to like this bs of a rigid trinity, and yet as we can see, other jobs are getting more and more support tools, while healers have 0 new dps tools.

The pressure is definitely higher with harder content(at least 10 key level for mythic plus) and mythic raiding but it's undoubtedly different than FF where it's interwoven. Though players pushing for more interwoven DPS roles for healers get a lot of hate in WOW. Ultimately healers in WOW in harder content do DPS but it's nowhere near the focus as it is here and healing is still king.
DPS is only king here because there is nothing for healers to actually do
If you threw WOW level damage then the healers would actually be healing but 14 just doesn’t put out any damage
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

Sometimes rumors are just... rumors.
So I just did the first DT 7.0 trial. It seems like there was quite a bit to heal. Is that because it’s new and nobody knew what to do or did they actually make a fight where you have to heal?
Mostly people not knowing what they're doing, undergeared, and players are emote casual.
It's not a bad time to heal content tbh... but I'm also aware that this is fleeting.
I haven't posted here in years but I want to make sure to post here that I'm a part of this healer strike.
I have been playing as a healer since before HW came out, when we were complaining about server sync during Titan fight. I am absolutely disliking what is being done to healers since Shadowbringers. In ShB, instead of lifting everyone to the top, AST and SCH were butchered and homogenised into what we have today, instead of improving WHM. Then EW came, SGE is (or was) what SCH was in the beginning, a "battle healer" due to its several damaging abilities, and AST got shafted again on its card system and became a WHM with shields.
We have been complaining about healer gameplay since Shadowbringers, if not earlier. It seems like every concern or plight within the class is ignored by the devs, we are told to "just go play ultimate if you want a challenge" and that's absolute bullshit. The state of healers made me dislike EW, it seems that more and more SquareEnix doesn't give a damn about healers, the players themselves, all healing classes are being dumbed down, "stupified" even, and I am willing to bet a good money that this is a conscious decision made solely to improve the experience with trusts, because with this they can advertise this MMO as "look you can play all by yourself, come here and give us money".
For the longest time ever it always seemed that only BLM gets an improved gameplay because after all that's Yoshi's favorite class, and it has been said in multiple interviews that none of the developers actually play, or main, healers. Geez, I wonder why the class is such in a sorry state after all? By all means keep giving tanks and dps more healing and shielding options, all dungeons in EW could already be done without a healer and I bet that the same will happen now.
The only content in which playing as a healer is actually fun is PvP, where each of them play differently and have a meaningful contribution to the group. Otherwise, I will be playing Dawntril as a Pictomancer, because most fo the creative and balance efforts goes straight to the new classes, do the dungeons with Trusts and leave after finishing the main story. I have lost any and all interest in playing more content due to the current state of the game
You know what's saddest about that? Even his class has finally been hit with the "Braindead Bat." Which, let me tell you, is depressing as hell. The add/stack marker phase does require some healing, which is a pleasant surprise.
