There were a very very rare few times where Blizz has done that. Most infamously during the Lizard Squad DDoS debacle. However, they have never actually given any credit for actual maintenance scheduled or Emergency.Pretty much every other subscription based MMO I've played has at some point in the past credited actively subscribed members for lost playtime when an extended service outage occurs. I recall it not being uncommon for Blizzard when it came to WoW, even when the outages were expected due to extended maintenance periods or patches that took a while.
So while SE is technically within their right to do nothing, in my opinion I find it distasteful from a customer service perspective for them to just pocket the difference. Especially when they're expecting us to fork over $40 for Dawntrail at the same time.
I'm not by any means mad about it, I just think it's poor form for a service provider.
