    You missed the point. The goal is to let players from both end of the spectrum to enjoy their gameplay. Why does it always have to be one and not the other? Why not both? Raise the skill ceiling (engaging downtime activities). Let the skill floor (minimum healing requirement) remains, or at least not significantly affected.
    Seriously, one thing I believe every person agrees on with Current healer design is how much damage the healers do, it’s the way they generate said damage that is the problem

    We can also be reasonable comfortable that oGCD sylphies don’t exist, healers are either trying to do damage and use oGCD’s, falling back onto GCD’s when they fail at different rates based on their skill or they are just outright sylphies who think medica 2 is the 14 equivalent to 42 being the answer to the universe

    Thing is both these playstyles can actually co-exist-

    1) make GCD healing cheap/free- if the sylphies want to press medica 2 then sure it’s annoying you lose some of their damage but they aren’t going to change so they shouldn’t be punished for it, also has the side benefit of removing the lucid death roulette

    2) cut the oGCD bloat- not saying they all need to go but skills such as fey blessing, divine bension, celestial intersection, minor arcana, ixochole, indom as much as I love protraction all the 86 single target spells besides aquaveil

    3) reduce mitigation checks, increase chip damage- as it is regen healers are next to useless currently, we don’t need a repeat of god kefka (please never do another god kefka) to fix this problem

    4) make healers do the same damage they currently do in a far more interesting way

    One of my favorite savage fights in regards to healing is actually A4S. I love the "raidwide" that happens very often where the game signals you with the lasers flying above the fight that then hit only some of the party in a seemingly random arrangement. I wish we had stuff like that in savage fights more, where that was going on regularly during other mechanics. That damage was never all that rough, but it just added to the exploding adds, the orbs that needed to be popped, the DOTs that would spread when touching other players... Not everything about that fight was great, but the way damage is dealt I think was what should be the norm.

    I wish I was on NA for that, I'd have been rich, I PF healed O8S a lot.

    Honestly though, what was breaking people? I don't recall that much pressure from that fight. I do remember the funny WHM Medica II+Cure III meme on the Heartless Angel near the start of the fight though.

    Definitely the first time I’ve ever heard praise for that absolute travesty of a fight but I can actually see your logic (as much as it pains me to say anything positive about that pile of garbage)

    A4S might be the last savage fight that had a completely non telegraphed tank buster on it's own cooldown that was independent of the fight's general rotation as well if my old frazzled memory isn't deceiving me?

    Defo agreed that it had some neat details to the fight, it just feels like SE bit off more than they could chew with regards to actually animating it properly and things sort of went downhill from there.

    I can't speak for 1-3 as I've only ever healed current extreme trials in terms of difficulty with the healer role, but 4 is the exact reasoning for this thread. Imagining if all 4 healers actually had different DPS rotations like any other job in the game not only makes me excited to dream about, but also angry that they don't already.

    Honestly, I do kind of want to see the dev team grant the wishes of the ones asking for an increase to healing requirements. I want to see them ramp it up so high that it kills off most of the healer playerbase.

    Even with the extreme simplification we have now, there are people who still struggle. I bet even if they make healers only have 3 buttons [Throw Rock, Heal and Heal More], some people will still wipe the party because they hit Heal instead of Heal More. The dev team really needs to start designing the healer role for actual human beings and not bots.

    It was, it was one of the victims of them throwing out everything that made up Gordias/coils design (along with things such as a pre fight dungeon and mechanics that resolved themselves 5-10 minutes after the mechanic originally happened outside of ultimates (royal pentacle being the last savage mechanic that required many minutes of juggling a debuff or resolving a mechanic correctly for something that would happen later)
