Housing Plot Instanced

How much time do you spend standing in your yard by yourself looking at the placard that you would even notice it happening? You're definitely not going to see it happening if you are inside of your house.

You're also greatly exaggerating how often it would happen considering those owning the instanced version of your plot would still be spread across 60 wards/subdivisions. You're not going to see every player on your world picking the same plot not to mention most of the time players aren't even in the wards. They'll be out playing the rest of the game.

Keep in mind this isn't how I would want instanced housing to be set up. I want instanced housing to take us out of the wards and give us options throughout the game world, just as RIFT did with Dimensions. But since this thread is about the OP's suggestion, I was mentioning ways that it might work out.

A lot of people are like me and sit IN FRONT of their house / in the garden, so yes, that would be a massive nuisance to see people constantly teleporting in and out out of absolutely nowhere, no thank you, stop trying to ruin ward housing.

If you want to see people teleporting all over the place, you can go on dynamis on any of the worlds and enjoy the flying lala bots going all over the place, we dont need to add that to ward housing, no thanks.

Basically, it would be like walking into a separate zone. Honestly, just have one of the random doors that are around in the wards lead out to a private housing area. Everything is gonna be copypaste. Generated, but at least the players will have the house that they want. Of course, it will be limited on who goes into it. Ergo friends list only, but they'll have the housing system they want.

Why can't we have instanced AND ward housing? Just give us bigger or upgradable apartment sizes.

I think that could be solved too, by having a option as well to show/hide people teleporting to same plot as you to get into their own instanced housing, so basically making it you can make it you don't even have to see them teleport in.

That way you can keep the peace and quiet of your own house, everybody can have their house, and people who really want to see people tp in and out to get a feel that the wards are active can just turn on the showing of people teleporting in / away from the placard.

Just bring on upgradeable apartments sizes to medium and large apartments and add a small balcony for 1 gardening slot and call it a day

Ward housing should not be used for instanced housing, ward housing is ward housing. I don't want instanced in the wards. Get your instanced large apartment, have at it, but that's as far as it should go, you shouldn't be able to pick a plot of choice anyway, instanced would be a replacement for people without a house, not an actual house.

This thread's funny to me. Whenever someone suggests just doing away with the system, a chief complaint (seen in this thread even) is "noooo, I need my community vibes, my neighborhood feel!" But OP's suggestion would add to that community. You'd have so many neighbors this way! But then it's "noooo I want to be left alone in solitude!!! I don't want to see people while I'm in my yard!"

So what do you actually want? Do you just want to exist in an empty neighborhood? Would you be okay with instanced wards if your home were the only real home in it, surrounded by fake randomly generated NPC homes? You'd still get a neighborhood, and it'd be as empty and undecorated as the average neighborhood is now. Except it'd be instanced, meaning a lot of other people could also enjoy housing on worlds that aren't dead af. Genuinely curious what some of you actually want because every time I come here it's just people who got theirs defending this garbage ass system from any attempt at change because it'd wreck the "good thing" they have going, aka the ability to sit in a desolate "neighborhood" and print submarine money.

Also OP's idea could work just fine without disturbing anyone. Just make it so that, like, let's say I'm in my house at ward 25 plot 34, and someone else pulls up to plot 34 and they also own a plot there. Make it so that when their house is in render distance on their screen, they stop being visible for players who own that same house. It's like they've already entered it. And now let's say I'm friends with this guy and want him to enjoy my house. BDO handled this part quite well. By clicking the placard, you could simply look up other people's homes who share that instanced plot and then visit. It'd be like the apartment directory. With like an ounce of imagination, OP's idea becomes totally fine without bothering anyone.

Imagine being an owner of a large and having 50 people constantly teleporting to their large that is in the same spot as yours. Like those bot swarms teleporting in cities, but in front of your own house that is supposed to be a sanctuary.

On release it was kinda annoying until most pretty much seemed to stop using it...to date I have been to 30+ islands....only mine was actually decorated. The only reason there is demand for housing is more likely due to its scarcity I feel. I watch the same empty plot on Coeurl week after week...but its only a small FC plot...so people ignore it.

Personally I think that rather then making a plot "exclusive" instead make it priority - if FC's are not moving into FC wards; then I see no issue with opening those to personals.

It could always be set up so one plot is always the plot on display, with the instanced houses at the same location reached through a placard menu. There are a few ways to design such a system so it would work to satisfy the vast majority of players (will always be those few who find reason to complain).


Houses do not make a community. People make a community.

All the plots in my ward may be filled with houses decorated but it still feels like a ghost town without other players walking around.

Your idea has the potential to make wards feel more like communities by adding more owners to the ward (even if their plots are instanced) but it will be dependent on how many players will spend time in a specific ward to talk to others. The game has too many wards to make that likely to happen.

I think the reason why it's empty is because there is no content there and because a limited amount of players have invested interest in being there (plots). Why hang in the the Mist? Unless you have a plot or want to avoid the bustling in Limsa or just like the beachside vibe.
