It cant be just me that find it weird and awkward that there's a discussion about trying to bring young players into the game right?
This whole thread stinks of "How do you do, fellow kids!"

or maybe, just maybe just dont be weird ? idk
"young players are not going to play ff14" which is the title and talking about younger players joining the game has nothing weird to it, you're making it weird.
The people who think it's all RP everywhere and full-blown degeneracy hour in every corner of every server are, ultimately, telling on themselves about how they play the game and what social circles and Discords they run in. Same as it ever was.
Note that this is not to say that they are actually involved in it, as anyone familiar with RP scenes in MMOs and beyond knows they're absolutely infested with 16-20 year olds at all times and have been since the dawn of the MUD.
Not sure if there is sarcasm here. In the MMO guild I ran in ESO for a few years, we had a kinda high number of older and even retired people. More than expected. Our guild was 18+ (NO ERP, just because the game is M-rated and we had some dark themes at times in RP. Our RP was very heavy lore and story focused). Probalby had more 30+ than 18 to 29s.
No sarcasm whatsoever. Anecdotally, the last couple groups and FCs I've been involved with were like 1/3 recent high school graduates/college kids, and I'm fairly certain at least one or two were lying about their age. I want to say ESO trends a bit older in its playerbase, but all the data that ever comes out about MMO demographics these days is twelve flavors of biased and compromised, so, hard to say.
The thing I don’t get is aren’t the whales all going to be older people lol? You’re doing yourself out of money Yoshi-P
Why would you need to weed out minors if you aren't doing adult things? I don't really understand the point of weeding out minors just because you can if you aren't doing anything a minor couldn't safely participate in.That's part of what I mean when I say stuff is different depending on alot of variables with pf. The game isn't just "full blown degeneracy" like some here claim.
Also not saying this to you directly but 18+ venues aren't all nsfw. Sometimes it's to weed out potential minors

99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt
Depends on region tbh. Lots of young ppl in the US appear to have no issue with generating a debt that exceeds their annual income just to have stuff in an online or mobile video game... >.>
First, this depends on what you define as "adult things". It doesn't have to rise to ERP to be uncomfortable with this.
Some adults want to be able to relax and be themselves without minors around. From just casual cuss words, talking about their lives, etc. can result in some "adult" conversations. Some people don't want to be around children as part of their social or RP groups.
Also for story-based roleplay even with rules prohibiting ERP, romantic RP relationships that may come up between characters as a part of storytelling. It would feel very uncomfortable if you had minors intermingling with adults, especially if they "blur" between their characters and OOC.
In RP, you also may have violent and intense scenes depending on where the story goes, and content and themes that probably can't be processed well by minors.
Let's see do you take a minor to a adult party where there maybe drinking, smoking and swearing? RP can have adult themes that doesn't always mean ERP. I don't understand what you don't understand about that? Rinse your mind out, personally I wouldn't want to be responsible for having to explain a RP scene that maybe rated R to a minor so it's easier to say 18+ allowed.
Enjoy Life you only get one.
