Young players are not going to play FF14

I can see them getting the attention of younger people but I do not see them KEEPING the attention of younger people.

I'm really curious where they get their data from. They should offer up poles and see what info they get. People who play this game are those that grew up with Final Fantasy. I don't see many of the younger crowd ever talking about Final Fantasy and I work at a job that has that age group. Most don't even know what Final Fantasy even is.

Final Fantasy has always seemed to be in its own niche which is kind of odd. Finding some one in their teens that knows what Final Fantasy is would be like trying to find some one Aveyond's age that's watched Galexy 999, or Macross, Oh my Goddess, Tenchi Muyo, or Record of Lodos Wars. I actually know a few 16yr Olds that play XIV (yes the game's rating is that low in some countries and I think the lowest is 13) course it's a bit hard for them to play together as they're not in the same time zone and they enjoy playing various other games like fighting games, or stuff like DbD. Kids tend to get to know of or interested in Final Fantasy cause some one they know played one.

All I know is I'm in my early 20s and I can't stand current day FFXIV gameplay with how boring each job has become and how cringe the current story is. You don't attract players like me with this current direction.

I don't think you are what Yoshi P is referring to. Yoshi P is unironically trying to entice 13 and 14 year olds. The systems have to be simple enough for their brains and inexperience.

Final Fantasy XIV has failed recently at being a game. We used to have gameplay, such as in the world-renowned Shadowbringers expansion. But now we hate that. We like how things are now. Which means we like playing other games while virtue-signaling online, because after all, FFXIV is the "correct" MMO (remember Blizzard? #MeToo).

Stuff like this makes me giggle and are a fun read, because of how over the top and ridiculous it is.

We're both in Balmung so I know you'll have to agree that yes there are a ton of PF 18+ spamming...however talking to people in just normal conversation is very easy. Just simply say anything in shout and you can get a conversation going.

I'm young (early 20's) but quite enjoy the game! sure it doesn't have everything and some problems here and there (in particular, I think the dev team could brush up on the roots of each job and consider changes/reversions) but overall I enjoy it! FF14 isn't everything nor will it ever be. I do understand there are gripes people have and hope the best for them (not a dev, so cannot really help them out).
I guess for my two cents is that the devs can try appealing to younger gamers, but (speaking generally) often I like it when a game sticks to its guns, maybe make changes, but overall understand what it wants. It doesn't need to stick to trends or try playing to algorithms (I am unsure if ffxiv is doing that or not). What I wrote probably sounds vague but it is probably the best I have to say.

At first you'd think they're trying to entice traditional FF players, but Duty Support is hardly the main problem of the game.

Second Life crowd? Let's be honest, that's accidental, JP doesn't have a huge ERP scene to sustain the game there.

With recent interviews it's now clear who exactly they're trying to cater to - and ruin the game in the process. Young gamers. A nebulous, ill-defined player segment that they don't themselves understand. They're bringing up examples like Fortnite. Square Enix thinks FF14, along with the rest of their product line, should evolve to chase these young players. Which is why we have things like FF7: Battle Royale edition.

Give up now, CBU3. No 14 year old is going to play a tab targeting MMO with a 2.5s GCD that makes you read hundreds of hours of dialogue.

You know what they said about turn based RPGs? The market is dead, no one is going to play it anymore. Sure, young people might not play turn based RPGs, but surprise, if you make a good RPG, people flock to it. You get critically praised.

Maybe FF14 should start trying to be the best MMO it can be instead of chasing clouds.
