I also feel they could do some boosting on things a bit but it's still not going to last forever.

And a lot of suggestions or desires when this topic comes up boils down to someone still wants repetitive content but they want repetitive content in their own personal flavor. With the varied playstyles we have in the playerbase, that's a near impossible task. People mention the old achievements and such because that's repetitive content already in the game and is something there put for us to work toward in these downtimes.

A lot of people want challenging content, that's all they are asking for, and FFXIV doesnt provide that unfortunately, savage is only fun for a while before it gets boring, you could also repeat ultimate for the 10000000th time, but it's all bland.

Look, it seems like you are very unsatisfied with this game, and that's not a problem, but you should probably quit playing it then. This is not a new content cycle for XIV, while Bozja and Eureka did offer a crazy kind of grind, even it did make players log in every day up to the last day of the patch before the next expansion launch. I remember being well done with everything I wanted from there and the rest of the expansion more than a month before the next.

Yes, they do, but what's challenging about repeating the same thing umpteen amounts of times to gain experience or a currency toward a reward? That seems to be what the majority idea of this thread is. The suggestions seem to be that what is desired is stay busy until the next patch or expansion and make the game responsible for keeping every player busy doing the grind they want to do.

Let me put it into perspective then

In FFXIV, you run savage raids which is about 10-15 ilvl higher than the crafted gear when upgraded, which lets be honest is not the best incentive, but in any case it is how it is.

In WoW, you run mythic+ which is basically an upgraded dungeon, with affixes or variants if you prefer that term, increasing damage/hp (up to +380% for level 20 keys) on top of the variants, but also at the same time increasing the rewards

To put it into words and numbers, a normal dungeon would give you abysmal gear, a +2 would give you ilvl 402 gear, with a weekly reward of ilvl 415 gear, while a +20 would give you ilvl 431 gear, with a weekly reward of ilvl 447 gear.

You also have mythic raiding that rewards amazing ilvl gear, and also gives you different options weekly for loot, up to 3 ON TOP of the loot you have a chance to get from the bosses.

That is a good way to make content challenging, at the same time as it being easy to repeat because its fun to progress towards the end goal of getting at least weekly ilvl 447, and even once you are done, you can just keep doing it again for more loot options up to 3 options for m+.

That is how you put an incentive to repeating content, while making it fun.

What about the people that don't find that content fun? I haven't played WoW since MoP so I don't know what repeating content they have available now for anyone who doesn't want this sort of thing.

So because some people dont find the content fun it shouldnt exist ? I'm not sure I understand your point, because if it's going to be that way, I am not sure why we have any content at all even in FF, there are people who dislike it anyway and dont find it fun so why have it at all ? Let's all just sit in limsa and do nothing

the exageration aside, my point stands, if this is a basis for content that some people will dislike it, then nothing will ever change and we'll keep getting the same mediocre content that barely lasts a week and that people repeat over and over again not for fun, but out of boredom and to keep busy because the game has nothing else than that.

For you. That's the key part missing from the equation here. You find that kind of content enjoyable. Others might not. I, for one, enjoyed M+ when it was brand new, then quickly soured on it when I found it turning into a cesspool of toxicity. For me, Blizzard going all-in on making WoW an e-sports style of game by pushing M+ and high-end raiding over basically everything else was half of what killed my interest in and enjoyment of the game (the other being really not liking the story of Shadowlands).

Perhaps because it's a sensible response? It's what I did with WoW when I realized I just wasn't enjoying it anymore, and the specific things Blizzard was focusing on most were things that didn't appeal to me (while at the same time SE's areas of focus on FFXIV were exactly what I was looking for in a game). I unsubbed from that game a couple years ago, turned this one into my main MMO, and I've been having a lot of fun ever since. Given the bitterness and outright hostility I've seen in many of your posts, it sounds more like the "discussion" you want is really just "a game is only fun if it does what I want, and here's why it should change to suit me, and if you have a different opinion, you're wrong and licking SE's boots." That's not healthy for anyone. Maybe if you keep hearing people giving you the same advice...someday you might discover that there's a reason for it?

1st of all you dont know what I do in this game, there is other content than savage raiding or ultimates, or hell even roulettes, that I do, and that also keeps me in this game, else I wouldnt even be here, housing being a big one.

2nd "for me", I am not alone in this game, and putting challenging content for likeminded people that are like me is not going to deny people that have no time to put in the game from doing their usual savage raiding or ultimate, you can have both content for people that barely play the game, and for people that play the game a lot, one doesnt have to go without the other, you can pick a good balance for the people that want a challenge, and those who just want to breeze through the entire game.

Right now is not a balance, its easy to breeze through everything, and that's all there is, there is zero challenge, and that's also why the content gets abandoned less than a week after a patch drops, because it's simply not fun and people would rather play other games.
