Eh. Those of us who are invested in FF for the story knew going in that paying full price was the cost of avoiding spoilers. Heck, I bought a PS5 for XVI - it was on my "to buy" list for other things as well, but XVI was the game that made me pull the trigger.

Going up to someone's face and saying, "I don't think your product is worth the asking price" isn't rude in haggle cultures where it's expected, but definitely sounds like it could be interpreted as rude in Japanese depending on the tone and specific phrasing used.

The feedback from XVI that is more likely to piss off the developers are the complaints about it not being turn based and thus "not a real Final Fantasy." They've said that about every FF game since IX.
