I get the point but I actually like that the producer himself looks into direct feedback from people. I dont think he made that comment in the sense that he doesn't want to do it anymore but just something that genuinely is upsetting to see sometimes.

Regardless, there's a bunch more positive and constructive feedback to balance out all the insulting trolling comments.

It's a nice principle, but that shouldn't really result in comments such as these being made, as they can be quite as easily misconstrued, and not in a fun, or good way. Like by all means read the feedback if you wish, but it needs to be understood that what has been experienced is the cost of being principled in this way.

Eh. Those of us who are invested in FF for the story knew going in that paying full price was the cost of avoiding spoilers. Heck, I bought a PS5 for XVI - it was on my "to buy" list for other things as well, but XVI was the game that made me pull the trigger.

Going up to someone's face and saying, "I don't think your product is worth the asking price" isn't rude in haggle cultures where it's expected, but definitely sounds like it could be interpreted as rude in Japanese depending on the tone and specific phrasing used.

The feedback from XVI that is more likely to piss off the developers are the complaints about it not being turn based and thus "not a real Final Fantasy." They've said that about every FF game since IX.

To be fair to him here, it does get tiring to read or see constant troll posts. I enjoy the turn based Final Fantasy more, but I won't sit here and pretend that makes them "not a Final Fantasy game" lmao

XVI was pretty great in my opinion, the combat was a bit simple for my taste, but otherwise it was solid.

My main points of criticism for it are just that, it lacks elements like DoTs from poisons, and all of the traditional spells and classes from the franchise. I seen the dragoons and was immensely disappointed knowing that I wouldn't be able to play as one.

Another point is the absolute surmount of sidequests, especially in the second half. I know that I could just say screw it and only do main story, but I try to do everything I can find on my first go and stuff I didn't after completion, so it felt like I spent more time doing sidequests then progressing the actual story.

My detailed criticism(s) for XIV is like a mile long, so I'll just leave it at that here so this isn't a giant wall of text

He just does it too much, and the moments where his mask slips and he says something against the players of these games feel really jarring when it seems like his go-to response in the face of any advertsity is to cry and plea to any gaming community like this. Its either one way or the other, and doing it both ways makes it feel less than genuine.

I'm also worried about the sales numbers they cited for XVI, Square Enix is notoriously terrible at budgeting to the point where games that have sold in the 5m+ copies threshold have been viewed as flops, hell Deus Ex and Tomb Raider sold more than that and they viewed it as unprofitable enough to sell off those IPs entirely. It would not surprise me if the upper management of Square Enix is uspet about the performance of FFXVI, and Yoshida is under fire for that within the company.
