Im just gonna add my point of view for this...

EPIC Reading Ahead!

I've been playing FFXIV since first Beta release,
it was in a horrible state april 2010 i think it was.

It looked great, but it has massive bugs & players started speculating
what PC could run this insanly PC spec'd demanding game.
It turned out the major problems wasnt just that even the biggest baddest PC's
had major problems running the game smoothly & it felt very...pointless of playing.

The game got a rushed release later that year and good lord, it was still in shambles.
It was so bad it made FFXI look hell of alot better in all possibly ways.

The fans of FFXI and other mmo's in general went infurious & told SE....
What the hell is this garbage?...This isnt the game standard from you!

Someone had to take the blame for whatever reasons and a new leadership was introduced.
Even thou the new producer & team have done amazing work up until now, the blame imo
was wrongly placed upon the original producer & management.

The Dev team and creators of the original game seemed to have
made a mess of the coding and general developemt tools.

It didnt work out as intended, and the game had already set in stone the characters
you select as your avatar / toon or what you will.

They were based upon FFXI's character's Mithra, tarutaru, elvaan, humes & galkans.
FFXIV from that point on became FFXI-2 if you like,
mainly because the major relation was just that part.
The FFXIV world however is not in any or little way related to FFXI at all.

Jobs... and classes are not related just to FFXI, most of the jobs/classes
goes way back even to the first FF games ever released.

So saying FFXIV is FFXI-2 & shouldnt be related to FFXI at all is just plain stupid in one way.
It IS based upon FFXI, the majority of the biggest player base is FFXI players.

This game should have everything FFXI had but better, bigger & cooler even with new stuff,
maybe even borrowed from other games....and at this point its just whats happening.

Why should FFXIV be any less than FFXI, WoW or any other MMO?
To win a market such as in MMO gaming, you have to please the fans in order to get a selling product.

SE did a smart thing by listening to their fans,
taking notes & implementing things both fans & developrs like.

SE are still in control, however there's a few bugs that
needs tweaking here & there, like this forum...

It could use a good clean up.

FF fans in general...would you rather have a WoW clone than a FFXI clone?
Imo...i think ill take the latter.

(Im no WoW hater, infact i played WoW for several years...like many other mmo's)
But bigass shoulderpads that almost stops me from entering the Auction House in Stormwynd... nah...that is no good in FFXIV...even thou Shoulderpads are cool, they just were abit oversized in WoW...lol)

This is not FFXI, not WoW not even SW:ToR...

i really felt i had to speak my mind & opinions defening this game & FFXI.
So i will not replay to any quotes or questions, since my post more or
less explained alot to new players of the game

I have alot of faith that this game will surpass FFXI, WoW or any other MMO's currently out there.

Alot of things has happend to FFXIV and the developers since the games release,
at one point the game looked Doomed from all perspectives,
but the new Development team took a chance of restoring their pride & company name,
and many of the fans supported them in many ways through this forum,
even in the times of earthquake disaster that happen not long ago.

Thats dedication in times of despair imo, Developer & consumer
working together to build something awesome!

And it had many effects, other mmo companies started doing the same thing...
Blizzard for example doing developer's blog or whatever they call it.

So...SquareEnix...Dont stop, keep going!
